    Primary Function of Organizational Unit

     

    The University College is designed to provide consistent, high-quality and appropriate academic advising, monitoring, mentoring, nurturing and coaching to ensure students’ academic and personal success.

    Primary Purpose of Position

    The Coordinator of Student Transition and Engagement support the holistic success of new and continuing students by developing, implementing, and assessing programs that foster belonging, engagement, and retention. This role coordinates orientation, transition initiatives, and engagement opportunities that empower students to connect with campus resources, peers, and the broader community.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    A strong record of creative problem solving, including strategic thinking and planning, is required. Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills. Ability to perform in a high degree of judgment, diplomacy, and discretion and to make difficult and timely decisions with integrity. Proficiency with the EAB Navigate platform is desired.

     

    Ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and families to support undergraduate students through difficult and complicated situations. Experience managing student crises effectively and collaboratively. Demonstrated success supporting students from historically underrepresented and/or minoritized backgrounds is required. Ability to use technology in the delivery of services and case management; agility and familiarity with latest software, database systems, computer literacy. Strong teamwork and conflict resolution skills.

    Minimum Education/Experience

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field.

     

    At least 1–3 years of experience in student engagement, orientation, or related student services.

     

    Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.

     

    Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across diverse campus departments.

     

    Commitment to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for students from all backgrounds.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or related discipline.

     

    Experience in program assessment, data analysis, and student retention initiatives.

     

    Familiarity with student engagement platforms and learning management systems.

     

    Bilingual or multilingual abilities.

     

    Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation

    Primary Responsibilities and Duties

    **Function** Coordination - Operations

     

    Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.

     

    Develop, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate a variety of seminars, workshops, and programs that support student progression and persistence.

     

    Monitor, analyze, and report on student persistence and progression trends to inform programming and intervention strategies.

     

    Develop resources to support the academic, social, and cultural transition of students.

     

    Collaborate with campus partners (academic advising, housing, faculty, student affairs, etc.) to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.

     

    Work closely with Associate Dean (s) and Director of Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction to ensure all student success data is accurate through the EAB Navigate platform.

     

    Plan and implement programs that foster student connection, belonging, and leadership development.

     

    Support student organizations, peer mentorship initiatives, and first-year engagement activities.

     

    Provide opportunities for students to connect with campus services and leadership pathways.

     

    **Function** Administration

     

    Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.

     

    Coordinate initiatives designed to promote student academic progression, persistence, and timely degree completion.

     

    Monitor student success data to identify barriers and implement proactive interventions.

     

    Provide oversight of programming logistics, including scheduling, budget tracking, event planning, and program evaluation.

     

    Maintain accurate and confidential records related to student participation, progression, and outcomes.

     

    Develop and manage office systems to ensure efficient tracking of student progress and timely interventions.

     

    Support data-driven decision-making by coordinating reports and maintaining organized systems for program documentation.

    Serve as the data-point of contact for EAB Navigate for academic support and engagement areas

    **Function** Planning and Organizing

     

    Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.

     

    Collect and analyze data on student engagement, retention, and satisfaction.

     

    Use evidence-based practices to enhance programming effectiveness.

     

    Prepare reports and recommendations for leadership regarding student success initiatives.

     

    Serve as the data-point of contact for EAB Navigate for academic support and engagement areas.
