Summary
The Production Planner supports the Production Control Supervisor by monitoring a specific section of the master production schedule, ensuring it aligns with the overall plan, and communicating with production supervisors and other departments about due dates. This role translates the master schedule into actionable daily or weekly plans, manages material availability for their assigned area, and resolves potential roadblocks to keep production running smoothly.
Responsibilities
+ Work from the master schedule created by the Production Control Supervisor to plan, schedule, and coordinate the production cycle for their assigned section or product line.
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for production supervisors within their section, providing them with updated schedules and communicating changes to due dates.
+ Collaborate with other departments (e.g., supply chain, quality, engineering) to ensure that materials, labor, and other resources are available when needed to meet production targets.
+ Monitor production progress and performance against the schedule. Advise management of any potential delays or issues, such as material shortages, labor backlogs, or quality problems.
+ Proactively identify and resolve issues that may interrupt the production schedule, working with relevant teams to find solutions and minimize impact.
+ Evaluate production capacities, such as available machine time and labor, and adjust schedules to accommodate any changes or constraints.
+ Prepare status and performance reports for management regarding work-in-progress and upcoming deadlines.
+ Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
+ Optimize resources, and schedules to improve efficiency and project success.
+ Takes the overall production plan and turns it into a workable, day-to-day schedule for a specific part of the plant or product line.
+ Utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to accurately track inventory, resource usage, and production progress.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience
+ U.S. Citizenship required.
+ Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills preferred.
+ Experience with ERP, MRP, and other relevant software.
+ Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills.
+ Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Supply Chain, or equivalent working experience.
+ Proven experience as a production planner or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
+ Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is highly valued.
+ A solid understanding of production processes, inventory management, and capacity planning.
+ Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
