Job Title: Project Engineer - Electrical SystemsJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to design and develop electrical systems for custom lifting and handling equipment. This role involves leading the electrical aspects of crane design, ensuring compliance with functional, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

+ Design and develop electrical systems including control panels, drive systems, power distribution, instrumentation, and safety circuits.

+ Serve as the lead engineer for various projects, focusing on electrical aspects of crane design.

+ Create and maintain detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnection diagrams, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using Solid Edge Electrical.

+ Ensure designs comply with industry regulations such as IEEE, IEC, NFPA 70, UL, CSA, and project-specific specifications.

+ Perform engineering calculations like load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, grounding, and arc flash analysis.

+ Support the configuration and programming of PLCs and HMIs for crane automation systems.

+ Travel to customer sites for system inspections, commissioning activities, and field troubleshooting.

+ Participate in the wiring and assembly of complex electrical systems, especially for high-spec or unique crane builds.

+ Develop detailed work plans for electrical projects, ensuring successful and timely execution.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers.

+ Identify opportunities for improving electrical design practices and recommend new technologies.

+ Provide technical assistance during installation, commissioning, and post-delivery support, and assist in training new electrical technicians.

Essential Skills

+ 5 years of experience in Electrical System Design.

+ Proficiency in creating electrical drawings and schematics.

+ Knowledge of IEEE, IEC, NFPA 70 standards.

+ Base knowledge of PLC configuration and support for shop panel builds.

+ Ability to support field operations and troubleshooting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with Solid Edge Electrical is advantageous.

+ Strong analytical skills for performing electrical calculations.

+ Ability to travel for site visits and project support.

Work Environment

The role is set in a cube environment within an industrial setting, requiring collaboration with various departments to ensure project success.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Raleigh, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
