Job Title: Junior Civil Engineer

Job Description

Join a leading architecture and engineering firm with a rich history of excellence and innovation. We are seeking a junior-level Civil Engineer to join our Waterford office and contribute to a variety of municipal projects in the Metro Detroit area.

Responsibilities

+ Perform engineering, construction, and design assignments on municipal projects.

+ Conduct soil and/or concrete observation and testing for water, sewer mains, and manholes.

+ Document and report all construction project activities.

+ Perform analyses and design required on the projects.

+ Prepare sketches and diagrams for field technicians.

+ Review and check drawings and layouts.

+ Assist in the preparation of contract/proposal specifications and construction cost estimates.

+ Review subcontractor shop drawing submittals.

+ Monitor construction and coordinate field activities.

+ Assist in transportation engineering within the municipal project sector, including roads and drives.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

+ 3-10 years of civil engineering experience, ideally within the Municipal or Transportation sector (internships considered).

+ Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Microstation, and/or Civil 3D).

+ Experience with municipal plan reviews.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ EIT or PE certification.

+ Experience in soil and/or concrete testing.

+ Experience with ArcView or ArcMap.

+ Experience in the design of water and sewer utilities.

Work Environment

You will primarily work onsite in the City of Pontiac, with the potential to work out of the local Waterford office as well. The work schedule is from 8 am to 5 pm, with a welcoming and collaborative culture that encourages celebrations and teamwork. While the preference is for in-office work, there is flexibility for those who do not require training, allowing for 1-2 days remote work or site visits per week. The Waterford office has 31 team members.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waterford, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
