We are looking for a Trucking Driver Specialist who will help raise the bar on safety, driving performance, and training across our operations. T his role is all about coaching, mentoring, and supporting our drivers to be the best and safest on the road. Through ride-alongs, training sessions, and ongoing observation, you’ll make a direct impact on the success of our drivers and the safety of our operations.
This position is based in Elko, NV, with some travel across operations in the Mountain Transportation Unit. You’ll be the “go-to” expert on safe driving practices, performance coaching, and training tools that help every driver succeed.

Here is what you will be doing
+ Conduct ride-alongs with drivers to observe, coach, and train for safety and performance
+ Create and maintain a driver observation/training form to document feedback and progress
+ Develop a ride-along plan for each driver in the Elko location
+ Partner with dispatchers, drivers, and operations managers to schedule and review ride-alongs.
+ Train, evaluate, and re-certify drivers on the Savage Safe Driving Program (SPACE).
+ Promote safety systems like SHAPS (Hazard Analysis & Prevention System) and “Better Way”
+ Support drivers on both day and night shifts
+ Track ride-along progress in spreadsheets and report results to leadership
+ Be an expert in safe driving practices that improve fuel efficiency and reduce risk
+ Auditing training paperwork for 100% compliance
What we need from you
+ Class A CDL with at least 5 years of Long Combination Vehicle experience (doubles/triples hazmat endorsement required)
+ A proven safe driving record and strong knowledge of best driving practices and fuel economy
+ Experience driving in all weather conditions with a focus on safety
+ Strong mentoring, training, and communication skills
+ Ability to build trust and positive relationships with drivers and managers.
+ Willingness to work with drivers on day and night shifts; occasional weekends required.
+ Ability to travel 30–50% of the time across operations.
+ Comfortable with technology (Outlook, Excel, Word, Geotab, Netradyne, etc.).
+ Preferred: Savage Team Member experience, Safety Specialist status, MSHA and HazMat certifications (or willingness to obtain).
+ Self-motivated with excellent planning and scheduling skills
