Are you a technically savvy engineering professional with deep experience in substation and apparatus equipment? Do you thrive solving complex technical challenges, driving standardization, and collaborating across teams? Join our Grid Services team and play a critical role in reviewing specs, developing internal standards, and ensuring technically accurate quotes for our apparatus projects. You’ll work closely with estimators, suppliers, and engineers—being the go-to expert for complex technical questions and innovative solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, experience in project management, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. It is a position that can influence the future of the electric grid. This position offers flexible work arrangements.
Responsibilities:
+ Provide technical expertise and guidance on electrical substation engineering projects
+ Create technical specifications for major equipment and provide engineering support for projects.
+ Collaborates regularly with design, electrical, mechanical, automation, electronic, engineers etc. to design, recommend and execute the appropriate technology solutions or value add solutions for our clients
+ Collaborate with supplier engineering/technical resources and develop comprehensive apparatus product specifications that align with our supplier network and our customer’s needs
+ Serves as the SME on supplier, industry, and client emerging technologies and trend
+ Leads technical application training for assigned Wesco sales team when necessary
+ Provides technical support and expertise for assigned Wesco sales team(s)
+ Works with sales organization and other Wesco specialized support teams to identify, sell and integrate Wesco value-add solutions
+ Provides post-sales engineering and technical support when applicable
+ Ability to effectively communicate technical solutions to diverse audiences both orally and in writing.
+ Apply a diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices as applied to substation engineering, design, and operation in the electric utility industry
+ Identify and clarify technical ambiguities and conflicts in the RFQ and project documents
Qualifications:
+ Bachelors Degree – Engineering, Technology, Automation, Robotics or related field or equivalent education or work experience required
+ Master Degree - Engineering or related technology field preferred
+ 5 years required, 7 years preferred, of Electrical, Automation, Mechanical or Electronic design, application and/or technical sales experience
+ Experience of leadership responsibility managing project teams and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders.
+ Proven track record in project managements
+ Excellent co-ordination skills with attention to detail and ability to effectively manage projects as well as support tasks and enhancements including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
+ Excellent communication skills with ability to interact at all levels both internally and externally.
+ Strong project management / time management skills
+ Strong product knowledge and application knowledge
+ PLC and HMI programming skills
+ Panel design and layout
+ Proficient in solid works or similar software
+ Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
+ Strong analytical and technical skills
+ Ability to travel up to 10%
