    Job Overview

     

    As part of the R&D strategy team reporting to the CTO office, you will be responsible to define and drive global R&D project and portfolio operational capabilities. This is a key role in driving the advancement of the tools and systems supporting R&D management and portfolio excellence, in addition to providing guidance and support to drive the execution of R&D. Work in partnership with R&D Strategy and Finance leads, plus R&D Leadership team across the enterprise to define and run R&D management capabilities. The position will contribute to the strategic planning, lead tactical implementation, and manage on-going support and maintenance of R&D management systems. The position will also be responsible for the establishment of PM standards, methodologies and processes. The role will report into the Vice President of Technology Strategy and Management.

    + Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by:

    + Responsible for project management and portfolio operations effectiveness through establishment and maintenance of best-in-class project and portfolio management (PPM) systems and tools, data quality standards, and reporting and dashboards.

    + Identifies opportunities for innovation and leads continuous improvement efforts for PPM systems and supporting processes.

    + Identify, evaluate, and drive adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies within engineering tools and Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) systems to enhance operational efficiency and innovation.

    + Serve as an internal advocate for AI/ML, articulating strategic intent, raising awareness, and supporting communications and training to ensure effective adoption and utilization of AI-enabled system and process improvements.

    + Collaborate with product lifecycle management team lead and stakeholders to ensure alignment between PPM systems and PLM implementation at Hubbell.

    + Act as a change agent to articulate intent, drive awareness, and support communications and training to ensure effective adoption and utilization of system and process improvements.

    + Partners with internal customers (Leadership, global project/program managers, process champions and Functions) and external service providers to define, deliver, operate, maintain, and support project and portfolio management solutions.

    + Utilizes strong project management, solution development, and data/system expertise to develop portfolio strategy and capability roadmap, then designs and delivers valuable solutions to implement the roadmap.

    + Defines, develops and leads training sessions on specific PM topics related to systems, tools and underlying processes.

     

    Collaborates with stakeholders in R&D, R&D Operations and Project Management and partners with the product management group and Functions to support portfolio performance tracking and reporting.

     

    + Leads technology community efforts, and drives communities of practice, engineering councils and PM competencies/skills training.

     

    Defines project management methodologies and standards that govern project planning, execution, and reporting. Collaborates with segment and BU PM leads to harmonize and drive adoption.

     

    + Provides technical mentorship and guidance to junior members. In some cases, may provide oversight or formal supervision of Project Operations Specialists or other systems support team members (e.g. Reporting Analyst).

     

    What will help you thrive in this role?

     

    + Bachelor degree or equivalent in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.

    + PMP certification, Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent is a plus.

    + 5-7 years' experience in the electrical infrastructure industry, and new product development specifically.

    + Minimum 3 years' experience as a project manager leading cross-functional project teams in a global environment, including those with complex technical, geographic, and/or regulatory elements.

    + Working knowledge in development and manufacturing processes of electrical and electronics components and systems.

    + Demonstrated experience in designing, deploying, and supporting PPM, reporting, or business operations solutions; PMO team member experience a plus.

    + Proficient in the use of enterprise Project Management, Business Intelligence (BI), and reporting tools such as Microsoft Project, CA Clarity, Qlik Sense, or similar. Experience designing, implementing, and supporting such systems strongly preferred.

    + Proficiency in Agile process is a plus.

    + Experience with Product lifecycle management systems is highly desired.

    + Demonstrated experience in identifying, evaluating, and implementing AI/ML solutions within enterprise environments, preferably in engineering, R&D, or portfolio management contexts.

    + Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts, tools, and platforms, and their application to business operations, data analytics, and process automation.
