    Overview:

    Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS), a non-profit organization, was founded in 1943 and has grown to be the largest provider of licensed outpatient community mental health services and one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester County. We provide state-of-the-art programs and services and compassionate care to more than 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds each year.

     

    We are seeking a part-time (up to 20 hours per week) Volunteer & Event Coordinator. In this role, you will oversee the volunteer program, including recruitment and the application process; acting as liaison with volunteers and program staff; assisting in the planning and implementation of volunteer projects, events, and in-kind donation drives; and assisting with the annual gala and other special events as needed.

     

    This part-time position offers a hybrid work option after 90 days of successful employment. The compensation is $33.65 per hour.

    Responsibilities:

    As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    + Assist with the planning and implementation of all volunteer projects, activities, and special events, including Family Volunteer Events, corporate giving days, and board activities.

    + Oversee the recruitment, screening, and placement process for approximately 400 volunteers.

    + Develop, maintain, and manage a volunteer database of active and inactive participants, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date.

    + Plan and execute volunteer recognition activities, including an annual Volunteer Appreciation Day event.

    + Assist in the planning and execution of two major Agency-wide drives: Back-to-School backpack and gift card drive and Have a Heart for the Holidays toy and gift card drive.

    + Assist in the planning and execution of 3-5 smaller Agency drives throughout the year; and coordinate with community partners and individuals running drives for WJCS’ benefit.

    + Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications Director on communications and social media for volunteer recognition, drives, and other activities.

    + Act as the Agency liaison for Volunteer NY and other such organizations.

    + Represent the Agency at community events and festivals, by manning informational booths when needed and recruiting new volunteers and donors.

    + Perform basic administrative duties, prepare metrics and reports, and conduct annual surveys.

    + Assist in the planning, preparation, and execution of WJCS’ annual gala in the spring.

    Requirements:

    We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

    + 2-3 years of experience in volunteer management, event coordination, or a similar community-building capacity; experience in a public-facing position, such as donor/customer service, and/or community outreach required.

    + Experience with fundraising/development in a nonprofit setting preferred.

    + Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain warm, professional working relationships with diverse staff at various levels, volunteers, donors, and community members.

    + Excellent organizational skills, acute attention to detail, and a proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills for recruitment, training, and correspondence.

    + Proficiency in database management (CRM) and Microsoft Office Suite.

    + Excellent problem-solving ability; comfortable with researching solutions independently to provide best options to key stakeholders

    + Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for event execution.

    + Appreciation for WJCS’s mission and the ability to communicate its impact effectively.
