Richmond Community Services, one of New York State’s largest and most respected providers of residential and day programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its leadership team.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the organization’s financial integrity and sustainability. The Accounting Manager will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, general ledger management, internal audits, and supervision of accounting staff. This role requires both strategic insight and hands-on management to support the agency’s mission of delivering exceptional care and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
+ Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes; supervises the Payroll function at RCS.
+ Ensure full compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory standards.
+ Review and analyze general ledger accounts, reconciliations, and subsidiary journals for accuracy.
+ Lead the internal audit function and identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls.
+ Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members to achieve department goals.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to provide timely financial insights that inform strategic decisions.
+ Support the CFO in budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
+ Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including prior 3 years prior supervisory or management responsibilities.
+ Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting systems.
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational oversight.
+ Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between agency sites.
