Job Summary
The Staffing Manager oversees recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and daily engagement and performance management for student and casual employees in Dining Services. This position will exercise independent judgement in staffing strategies and workforce logistics providing recommendations for performance improvements as needed. This role is responsible for ensuring dining staff compliance with training requirements and develops programs to support employee readiness and engagement. This position collaborates with Human Resources, the Student Employment Office, and Dining leadership to maintain operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Other duties include payroll and implementation of technology-driven solutions to improve communication and shift coverage.
Essential Functions:
+ Collaborates with the Student Employment Office to develop and implement recruitment and retention initiatives for student workers within the Thorne and Moulton dining halls.
+ Designs and oversees scheduling logistics in partnership with dining hall management, ensuring optimal staffing coverage and operational continuity.
+ Partners with dining hall management to design and implement initial trainings for new employees and cross-training programs for established employees that support operational excellence.
+ Leads the recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and training of seasonal staff for campus events, ensuring staffing plans align with event logistics and service standards.
+ Partners with the Human Resources recruitment team and department leadership in recruiting qualified candidates for student and casual dining services roles.
The hiring range for this position is expected to be: $66,500 – $71,500.

Education/Skills Requirements
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Associate degree strongly preferred.
Applicants must possess the ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner and to work closely and collaboratively within a team atmosphere. Attention to detail, excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills are required. Proficiency with computers (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) is also required. Accuracy in work requiring detail, basic math and reading skills required.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
1-3 years related experience required, 4-7 years preferred.
A minimum of one year experience with high volume sourcing, recruiting and hiring staff is required. Additionally, a minimum of one year of experience managing complex schedules is required. General knowledge of employment law and hiring practices are required. Some experience with training, supervision and dining service operations is preferred.

Standard Work Days and Hours
This is a full-time position working 40 hours/52 weeks, (1.00 FTE ). Typical schedule of Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm., with occasional night and weekend work to support major college weekends such as Parent’s Weekend, Homecoming, Commencement and Reunions for special events.
Peak student hiring and onboarding periods of August-September and January-February may require some degree of schedule flexibility to accommodate the needs of the department.
