JOB SUMMARY:
The Training and Development Manager is responsible for leading the strategic direction, development, and execution of all training initiatives across the organization. This includes professional development, leadership training, customer service, sales, and technical training for service technicians working on heavy equipment, power generators, and diesel trucks. This role ensures training programs align with business goals, enhance employee performance, and support career development across all divisions.
COMPETENCIES:
+ Develop and implement a comprehensive training strategy that supports organizational goals and employee development across all departments.
+ Lead and manage the Training and Development team, including Technical Training Supervisors, Professional Development Trainers, and other training staff.
+ Collaborate with department leaders to assess training needs and align programs with business objectives.
+ Design, deliver, and evaluate professional development and leadership training programs.
+ Oversee new employee orientation and onboarding processes.
+ Support Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and succession planning efforts.
+ Coordinate and mentor the “Flagship” Leadership Training Program and manage the management training program.
+ Oversee the Technical Training Department, including the CAT Technician Career Development Program and the Dealer Learning Management System.
+ Ensure alignment of technical training with industry standards, vendor requirements, and internal performance goals.
+ Support the Technical Training Supervisor in planning, reporting, and resource allocation.
+ Stay current with technological advancements and training needs in the heavy equipment and power systems industries.
+ Develop and manage training budgets, schedules, and resources.
+ Ensure training content is current, engaging, and aligned with company policies and procedures.
+ Monitor training effectiveness through metrics, feedback, and continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Promote a culture of learning and development throughout the organization.
+ Build strong relationships across departments to support training initiatives.
+ Partner with Operations to ensure compliance and alignment.
+ Serve as a brand ambassador during training sessions and company events.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High School diploma or equivalent required.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Education, or related field required.
+ Minimum 7 years of experience in training and development, including leadership and technical training.
+ Prior supervisory experience required, preferably in a dealership or technical service environment.
+ Proven ability to design and deliver effective training using various modalities (e-learning, workshops, coaching, etc.).
+ Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ Familiarity with LMS platforms (e.g., Cornerstone) and Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Ability to travel to various company locations to support training delivery.
+ Excellent communication and leadership skills. Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible. 20lb lift/carry and 50lb pull. Up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines.
