Position Overview:
• The Assistant Bureau Chief of the Bureau of Operational Services directly oversees bureau budget and expenditure tracking, Division training and professional development, Division IT coordination, and Division volunteer and Citizen Support Organization (CSO) management functions.
• The key operational support elements overseen by this role are vital to the success of the Division of Recreation and Parks in carrying out its mission to provide resource-based recreation while preserving, interpreting, and restoring natural and cultural resources.
• This is highly complex management and leadership work supporting five district offices, 175 state parks, trails and historic sites, and the various bureaus and offices within the Division.
• This position is located in the Division of Recreation and Parks, Bureau of Operational Services.
Primary Responsibilities :
• Coordinates with the primary business units of the Bureau of Operational Services to lead budget planning and control activities and property inventory functions.
• Guides Division training and professional development efforts in alignment with strategic goals and Department requirements.
• Oversees Division IT coordination, with specific focus on hardware tracking and inventory management. Supports Division participation in Department IT initiatives.
• Provides centralized management oversight of Division volunteer and CSO activities, assuring compliance with Division and Department policies. Implements and maintains processes and systems to measure value.
• Provides daily consultation and recommendations to the Bureau Chief and to other DRP management in the areas indicated above. In the absence of the Bureau Chief, handles routine as well as critical matters requiring attention.
• Coordinates planning, review and implementation of pertinent programs with other Divisions, offices, bureaus, permitting organizations and the public as required.
• Represents the Bureau and the Division at various meetings and other appropriate functions.
• Performs travel and other related duties as required.
• This position directly supervises three FTE and one OPS positions and reports to the Chief of the Bureau of Operational Services.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to travel
Position of Special Trust Requirement:
This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Four years of verifiable supervisory or leadership experience
• Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
Pay:
$76,500.00 - $89,500.00 Annually
