NYSERDA Finance Assistant

The Finance Assistant serves as a member of the NYSERDA Program to provide basic accounting and clerical tasks for the program. Primary responsibilities include collecting & maintaining documentation for grant reporting and preparing & submitting the monthly voucher for grant reimbursement. This position will also maintain program related files and complete data entry in the Salesforce database as well as other systems used by the program.
Required Qualifications:
+ Associate Degree or GED/High School Diploma and 1 year of transferable functional experience.
+ Experience relevant to the role of the position.
+ Ability to perform data entry with attention to detail.
+ Ability and willingness to learn new skills, information, and systems.
+ Ability to read and interpret documents.
+ Ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and electronic technology.
+ Ability to effectively participate in professional team efforts.
+ Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and to secure confidential information and materials appropriately.
+ Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
+ Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
+ Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
+ Proficiency or ability to learn and effectively use software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel).
P osition Details:
Expected Weekly Hours: 20 hours per week
Hourly Wage: $22.00 per hour

Administrative Responsibilities:
Coordination/Operation – 95%
+ Perform a substantial amount of routine non-complex tasks to support the financial administration of the NYSERDA program.
+ Acquire and maintain required documentation for grant reporting.
+ Prepare and submit NYSERDA program vouchers for reimbursement.
+ Complete and submit program related expenses for grants and contracts.
+ Enter required data into Salesforce database and/or other systems used by the program.
+ Create and maintain organized and up-to-date program and related administrative files and databases.
+ Enter data into appropriate financial reports.
+ Maintain accurate records.
+ Maintain strict confidentiality of all information.
+ Scan and print required documents as needed.
+ Provide finance related reports for program as requested.
+ Perform other finance and administrative duties as assigned.
Professional Improvement & Other Duties as Assigned – 5%
+ In cooperation with supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
+ Participate in all required orientation, training, and/or in-service meetings and trainings as scheduled/required.
+ Pursue personal growth through expanding personal knowledge of the total organization and through updating techniques and technical skills relating to the position.
+ Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Cooperative Extension programs and other duties as assigned.
+ Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.

+ Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
+ Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
+ Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
