    This role will require up to 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

     

    The Global Salesforce Commercial Platforms IT team at Medtronic is a strategic, globally distributed organization dedicated to delivering scalable, high-impact Salesforce solutions that enable commercial excellence across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions. We collaborate closely with business units and enterprise functions to support the full Salesforce delivery lifecycle—from demand intake and solution architecture to deployment, governance, and continuous improvement. Our team fosters a culture of agile innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and human-centered design, empowering commercial teams through transparent processes and community-driven practices.

     

    As a Principal Salesforce Solution & Platform Architect, you will serve as a strategic technical advisor, driving the expansion and optimization of Salesforce capabilities across Medtronic’s global commercial ecosystem. You’ll collaborate with internal business and IT partners to define and implement best practices for Commercial Enablement solutions, ensuring scalable, sustainable designs that minimize technical debt and align with enterprise architecture standards. This role blends technical leadership and hands-on solutioning—requiring strong problem-solving skills, organizational agility, and the ability to coach teams toward a unified, future-ready platform. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented architect who thrives on solving complex challenges, leading cross-functional initiatives, and delivering impactful outcomes in a fast-paced, global environment.

    + Be a thought leader on the Global Salesforce Commercial Platforms IT team and beyond.

    + Responsible for owning the business requirement gathering/documentation as well as overall design and configuration of the solutions.

    + Work independently or as part of a delivery team to implement new experience solutions and set them on journey for success and scalability with Salesforce products.

    + Provide thought leadership and architectural guidance on implementation with our key partners, particularly focusing on optimization of Salesforce solutions.

    + Translates business requirements into well-architected solutions that best leverage the Salesforce platforms and products.

    + Provide detailed level of effort estimates for proposed solutions, Articulate the benefits and risks to a solution’s feasibility and functionality.

    + Provide hands-on, expert-level technical assistance to Salesforce admins and developers.

    + Coach and mentor junior technical and functional team members.

    + Assist internal Commercial Business and IT partners with enhancing or expanding their current implementation of Salesforce.

    + Lead business and technical design workshops our internal partners’ Commercial processes and create scalable, sustainable solutions following Salesforce best practices.

    + Conduct Discovery sessions to interpret and deeply understand business requirements while documenting those details in a through and interpretable fashion.

    + Lead Design sessions by evaluating and translating business needs to advise a best practice design of the Salesforce platform/features which will satisfy the internal partners’ requirements.

    + Document Design recommendations into a requirement design workbook which can include workflow diagrams, data mapping/models, business process details, etc.

    + Maintain a deep understanding of Salesforce products to be a trusted thought leader and advisor with your partners.

    + Configure the Salesforce platform per design specifications and conduct enablement sessions to the Commercial Enablement teams.

    + Support creation of user acceptance test scripts and execution UAT activities to ensure business requirements are fully met.

    + Proactively identify and escalate potential issues/risks and partner with stakeholders for mitigation/resolution.

    + Participate in establishing best practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature capabilities of the internal teams.

    + Supporting projects through the solution design phases working closely with the Business and IT developers, maintaining the overall Solution Architecture framework and direction to support Commercial Enablement team. This role will also extend to working with partners on new Salesforce product evaluations and recommendations.

    **MUST HAVE** (Minimum Qualifications)

    + Bachelor’s degree

    + 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree

    **NICE TO HAVE** (Preferred Qualifications)

    + Strongly Preferred:

    + Previous Medtronic experience

    + 5 **+** years of Salesforce experience

    + Experience working as an architect, solution engineer, IT consultant or developer in a customer facing role that provided differentiated software technology solutions.

    + Ability to understand and document business requirements as well provide predictive recommendations by actively listening and asking probing questions.

    + In-depth knowledge and experience with successfully managing enterprise software application implementations with waterfall and agile methodologies.

    + Experience with spearheading initiatives with cross-functional teams on several concurrent projects.

    + Record of professional achievements with a track record of delighted, successful, and satisfied customers.

    + Ability to create structure in ambiguous situations, and design effective processes.

    + Experience in working with complex, multi-divisional, multi-geographical partners.

    + Passion to be an expert on the Salesforce ecosystem and for being part of a fast-growing Global IT organization.

    + Strong understanding of the Salesforce product suite, including Health Cloud, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Community, as well as Agentforce.

    + Hands-on configuration experience with Salesforce.

    + Understanding of when to apply Apex, Visual Force, and other customization options within the Force.com platform.

    + Experience in enterprise-level Salesforce projects using both waterfall and agile software development methodologies.

    + Strong knowledge of Data management and Analytics.

    + Experience with integrations, data models, and data structures.

    + Proven ability to design and optimize business processes and integrate business processes across disparate system.

    + Solid understanding of environment management, release management, code versioning best practices, and deployment methodologies.

    + Hands-on at least 2 years of Consulting or related experience.

    + Work with enterprise and technical architect(s) to provide a consensus-based enterprise solution that is scalable, adaptable and in synchronization with ever changing client needs

    + Experience integrating Salesforce with different business systems, as well as working with integration tools (ETL, CPQ, marketing automation, analytics, etc.)

    + Strong Salesforce to external system integration (using APOs and IPaaS tools like MuleSoft, Informatica Cloud, WebMethods, Kafka, etc.)

    + Experience managing offshore development resources in a particular technical area (those being configuration, customization, data migration, integration)

    + Experience with Salesforce single-org deployments and multi-org consolidations

    + Coding experience and a willingness to work with or demo code-centric solutions (APEX, Java, C#, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or other modern languages)

    + Web based and mobile application development and architecture

    + Active Salesforce certifications or ability to achieve relevant certifications upon hire (Administrator, Platform App Builder, Sales/Service/Marketing/Health Cloud Consultant, Application Architect, Integration Architecture Designer, Sharing and Visibility Designer, Integration Architecture Designer, Agentforce Specialist, etc.)

    Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$129,600.00 - $194,400.00

     

    This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

     

    The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

     

    The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
