The Electrical Engineer I uses their engineering education and background knowledge to assist in the design, testing, and implementation of rotary telemetry systems used for data acquisition in rotating machinery. This role provides hands-on experience developing electronic circuits, telemetry systems, and embedded firmware under the guidance of senior engineers. The engineer generates documentation and actively seeks feedback. Significant interaction with Sales, Manufacturing Technicians, and other Engineers is required.
Additional Duties:
+ Support the design and development of rotary telemetry systems, including power, signal conditioning, and data transmission circuitry.
+ Contribute to analog and digital circuit design, schematic capture, and circuit board layout for instrumentation modules and telemetry.
+ Assist with firmware development for embedded microcontrollers, including data acquisition, signal processing, and communication protocols.
+ Conduct basic electromagnetic field (EMF) and radio frequency (RF) analysis to ensure performance, quality, and compatibility.
+ Perform bench testing, troubleshooting, and validation of prototypes and production units using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers.
+ Participate in the integration and testing of telemetry systems on rotating components and test rigs.
+ Document designs, test procedures, and results following company and industry standards. Creates customer targeted Manuals for product.
+ Learn and effectively use the company’s ERP system in support of design and manufacturing.
+ Develops a functional knowledge of how to “manage risk” of new designs.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and software/firmware engineers, to ensure reliable system performance.
+ Work with vendors to provide high quality components at competitive costs. Seek design for manufacturing guidance from vendors in order to lower costs.
+ Support continuous improvement efforts in system design, manufacturability, and reliability.
+ Upon receiving project definition and design inputs from Senior Engineer, completes basic product designs.
+ Possible mentorship and oversight of Engineering Co-Ops and interns
+ Deliver rapid response to both intra-organizational and external technical supports.
+ Assist in offsite field service activities remotely and in person as needed. Travel to other company sights, customer sites, training and trade shows as needed.
+ Researches, analyzes and studies existing products to gain a true understanding of how they work, what causes certain performance characteristics, how design affects manufacturing processes, and how design will affect cost to manufacture. Use the information gained to propose new materials, designs and processes to improve company’s market position.
+ Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operation of the Engineering Department and Accumetrics as a whole.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Education: BS in Engineering program or related field or equivalent work experience.
+ Experience: Previous internship/co-op experience in a technical field or academic/independent technical project experience relevant to the position.
+ Travel Requirement: <20% as needed.
