*General Description:*Works as an integral part of the Veteran Mental Health Department (VMHD) performing highly complex (senior-level) training, consultative services, and technical assistance work. The Manager of Veterans Learning is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating statewide training and educational initiatives that support the mental health and well-being of veterans, service members, and their families. This position works collaboratively with internal staff, state agencies, community partners, and veteran-serving organizations to promote awareness, improve service delivery, and strengthen the statewide behavioral health system for veterans

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*
* Plans, develops, reviews, revises, and implements training programs to increase knowledge of military related traumas, evidence-based practices, military cultural competency, and military informed care.
* Serve as a lead facilitator or co-trainer for in-person and virtual training sessions.
* Determine continuing education requirements.
* Designs and reviews course evaluations and instructor evaluations for enhancement to training
programs.
* Identify and communicate with community provider networks which serve veterans to synchronize locally accessible services for Service Members, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF).
* Engage and communicate with community-based clinicians/providers serving SMVF to improve access to mental health services.
* Produce reports regarding therapists who provide SMVF services within rural communities across Texas.
* Represent the Texas Veterans Commission and the Veteran Mental Health Department at conferences, business meetings, and panel discussions.

*Minimum Education:*
• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Public Health, or a related field.*College Transcripts are required and must be provided before an interview can be extended, it is preferred they be attached to the application.*
*Minimum Experience:*
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in program coordination, adult education, or training development, preferably in mental health and/or veteran services.
*Additional Requirements*:
• A valid Texas Driver’s License must be provided within 90 days of hire.
*Preferred Experience and Qualification:*
• Honorably discharged Veteran strongly preferred.
• Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Public Health, or a related field.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Texas as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Psychologist.
*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*
* Knowledge of evidence-based practices in behavioral health, trauma-informed care, and suicide prevention.
* Knowledge of military and veteran culture, including the unique mental health challenges faced by service members, veterans, and their families.
* Ability to demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity when engaging with veteran and military populations.
* Knowledge of community engagement and partnership development strategies.
* Skilled in facilitating engaging in-person and virtual learning experiences using adult education techniques.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, statewide environment.
* Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to work well in an independent setting with minimal supervision.
* Ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and all levels of authority.
*Environmental & Physical Conditions: *
Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Work involves extensive telephone usage and repetitive hand/wrist/finger motions while using the computer.
