WORK LOCATION
+ The position will be preferentially located near Atlanta, GA, however candidates living outside of the area may be considered with the expectation that they would be willing to travel to work and/or field location on a routine (to be determined) and as-needed basis.
+ The position requires occasional travel (up to 50%), including air travel.
+ The position will require a mix of both field and office work.
POSITION SUMMARY
Safety Analysis Coordinator - Human Performance will provide leadership and guidance for the Event Learning process (event analysis and continuous improvement effort) and action item management to improve safety and efficiency across the organization. This role requires a strong background in Human Performance, safety, leadership, and collaborative problem-solving. The focus will be on collaborating with departments across Georgia Power to implement controls that reduce the risk of injuries, close calls, and near misses. Responsibilities include facilitating the Event Learning Process, drafting reports, sharing lessons learned, and delivering training. The successful candidate will maintain positive, action-oriented relationships with stakeholders while challenging teams to implement innovative solutions for performance improvement.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, safety management, or a related field is preferred.
+ If no bachelor’s degree, 5 years of direct experience in the areas indicated is required.
Experience:
+ 5 years of experience in transmission, distribution, system operations, or safety. Experience in heavy industrial, power generation, papermill, petrochemical, or refinery will also be considered.
+ Experience facilitating Event Learnings, structured event analysis, or process improvement is preferred.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

+ Ability to lead and direct teams efficiently and effectively, even under tight deadlines.
+ Ability to build trust and create an environment of psychological safety for candid communication and collaborative innovation.
+ Capability to engage with all levels of the organization to communicate lessons learned, exercise influence to build buy-in, and drive needed changes.
+ Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Written and Verbal Communication Skills
+ Proficiency in presenting findings and preparing Event Learning reports for diverse audiences.
+ Experience interacting with Legal and Risk Management teams, with the ability to produce documents suitable for litigation and regulatory reviews.
+ Ability to share lessons learned using a narrative approach to make complex information relatable.
+ Proficiency in using digital tools (Microsoft PowerPoint, SharePoint, Lists, etc.) for training, sharing lessons learned, and data analysis.
Primary Job Responsibilities
+ Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to organize work with minimal supervision.
+ Will use internal Southern Company Event Learning process to lead, collaborative event analysis and solutions development team
+ Coordinate learning and conduct causal analysis of safety-related incidents and proactive learning efforts.
+ Facilitate learning teams from organizing meetings to preparing comprehensive reports with a focus on proactive management of critical risk.
+ Guide teams in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and facilitate sharing lessons learned.
+ Oversee communication of findings and actions from local event learnings.
+ Evaluate events for broader applicability and potential development into Operating Experience Alerts.
+ Assist in designing and delivering interactive training modules, organize workshops and meetings to discuss strategies for minimizing human error
+ Promote a culture that values Human Performance.
+ Conduct analyses of past incidents and near-misses to identify trends and causal factors.
+ Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to share insights and integrate best practices.
+ Conduct regular observations of workplace activities to identify areas for improvement.
+ Assess the effectiveness of action items and support initiatives aimed at recognizing learning-focused behaviors.
+ Collect and analyze performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
+ Prepare detailed reports on improvement metrics for senior management review.
