UPMC Mercy is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Flex Registered Nurse to join our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team supporting the General Operating Room. This role is part of our in-patient career ladder and offers a flexible schedule with minimal weekend shifts, no on-call responsibilities, and an average of three shifts per week. Shifts run Monday through Friday during daylight hours, starting as early as 5:00 AM and ending no later than 8:30 PM.
As a PACU RN, you'll be responsible for prepping patients for surgery, discharging patients from Phase 2 recovery, and assisting the AIPPS team with pre-operative nerve blocks. We're looking for candidates with a minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, and critical care experience is highly preferred.

+ Must demonstrate age-specific care knowledge and skills per unit standards, including growth and development principles.
+ Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; BSN preferred.
+ We are seeking RN candidates with 5 or more years of experience; critical care experience strongly preferred.
+ Must achieve and maintain a Solid/Strong/Good or higher on annual Professional Staff Nurse Performance Evaluation.
+ Ability to build positive relationships across all levels of staff and with patients/families.
+ Must work effectively in complex environments, manage changing priorities, and operate specialized equipment.
+ Requires strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
+ Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning; mobility and manual dexterity required.
+ Annual completion of a professional contribution or UPMC-approved nursing certification within 1 year of hire/transfer (unless Master's in nursing or DNP is held). A Master's in a related field may substitute for certification if BSN is held.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ Current RN licensure in the facility's state or via Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC).
+ UPMC-approved nursing certification preferred.
+ CPR required within 30 days of hire (AHA standards).
+ ACLS and PALS required within 1 year of hire/transfer.
+ Act 34 clearance required.
