JOB SPECIFICS
The Grounds and Facilities Technician, Parks will perform general maintenance work at all Washington County Parks. Duties will include picking up debris and emptying trash receptacles, exterior and interior building cleaning and maintenance including painting, patching, caulking, etc. and grounds maintenance support, including operating motorized equipment to cut grass, weed whip, and trim trees. Use county-provided vehicle to perform duties as assigned at all Washington County Parks facilities.

SELECTION TECHNIQUE: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top-scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.
HOURS / DAYS: 20 hours a week. Weekends required. Work schedules (hours and days) are subject to change based on department needs.
ANTICIPATED PAY RATE: $20.85 - $24.59 Hourly

JOB SUMMARY
The Grounds and Facilities Technician performs both interior and exterior general maintenance work, and/or a variety of other routine building maintenance.
EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of grounds maintenance work experience and/or general facilities maintenance work, or equivalent.
Individuals operating a motor vehicle for County business must possess a valid driver’s license.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Maintain exterior grounds such as: foliage, grass, shrubs, mulch beds, etc.
+ Operating motorized equipment to cut grass, weed whip, edging sidewalks, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and ice control/snow removal. Including transporting equipment to various sites by driving vehicles with trailers. Non-CDL required equipment.
+ Inspect and perform ground maintenance to include picking up debris and empty trash receptacles, sweeping sidewalks, de-weeding, cleaning of parking ramp, squad garage, sally port and other exterior areas as needed.
+ Perform landscaping projects that include but are not limited to adding too mulch beds, planting new flowers/grasses, and transplanting established plants to new locations.
+ Exterior building maintenance which may include painting, patching/caulking, repair fences, ledges, hinges, parking lot/sidewalk repair, cleaning of exterior windows, maintaining and clearing of catch basins, etc.
+ Clean and inspect equipment after each use by checking fluids and batteries and completing routine maintenance on motorized/battery equipment.
+ Cleaning duties as needed such as clean and disinfect surfaces, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, vacuuming, and extracting as well as cleaning within a secure jail environment.
+ Maintaining building facilities equipment such as: unit heater filter changes, coil cleaning, etc.
+ Interior building maintenance which may include: paint and patching of walls, carpet extraction; strip, seal and finish floors, carpet repair, replacement of carpet squares, window cleaning, ceiling tile repair/replacement, light fixtures and vents, maintaining cleanliness level of mechanical rooms, equipment, etc.
+ Assist Washington County staff or contractors in maintaining or locating equipment.
+ Assist in furniture projects, assemble, and deliver office furniture.
+ Assist facility custodians and technicians on work orders or projects, cleaning, and repairs.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Building Service functions: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.
Essential Parks functions: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires working both indoors and outdoors.. This means exposure to various weather conditions, including heat, wind, humidity, rain, cold, and snow. The job is physically demanding, requiring frequent lifting and pushing/pulling of objects up to 40 lbs, with occasional lifts up to 100 lbs (with assistance). You may also encounter hazards relating to operation of vehicles, motorized grounds maintenance equipment, dust particles, lubricants, fertilizers, pesticides, cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and hazardous waste. To perform the essential functions, you must be able to walk, bend, turn, push, pull, kneel, climb, reach, grasp, squat, turn your wrists, and manipulate your fingers on an occasional to continuous basis. You'll be using a variety of equipment, from lawn mowers, weed whips, cleaning supplies and power tools to floor cleaning machines and vehicles, as well as communication devices and computers. Travel between County locations is required. Additional physical/mental requirements may not be listed above but are inherent in performing the position's essential functions.
