Job Summary
Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences (NERS) seeks applicants for one (1) open Lecturer I position for Winter 2026 term (January 1, 2026 - April 30, 2026).
The Lecturer I position will teach NERS 344 Fluid Mechanics for Nuclear Engineers (3 credits). The expected percentage of effort for this position will be 30%.
Course Description:
Mass, momentum, and energy balance in lumped-parameter and differential forms. Hydrostatics. Laminar and turbulent flow in pipes. Application of fluid mechanics to nuclear components and systems.

Responsibilities*
+ Teach NERS 344 Fluid Mechanics for Nuclear Engineers in Winter 2026.
+ Evaluate, grade, and provide timely feedback on student work and projects
+ Hold regular office hours, virtually and in-person
Required Qualifications*
+ PhD in Nuclear Engineering or related field and/or a combination of experience as an expert in the field of materials/metallurgical engineering, fluid Mechanics, and advanced nuclear fuel processing.
+ Relevant, high quality teaching experience with exemplary student evaluations, and/or the equivalent of teaching/training roles in academia or industry
+ Extensive experience and knowledge of aspects of Fluid Mechanics and Metallurgical Engineering.
+ Must be capable of working independently and making effective presentations
+ Ability to interact effectively, respectfully, and diplomatically with individuals of all backgrounds and at all organizational levels

The mode of work for this position is ONSITE. Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
