    Budget Title: Staff Assistant (SL-2)

     

    Salary: $51,261 - $55,000

     

    Binghamton University seeks applicants for a Coordinator of the LGBTQ+ Center (Q Center) which falls under the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Reporting to the Associate Director of the Q Center, the Coordinator is responsible for overseeing administrative and daily operations of the center in partnership with the Associate Director, planning and coordinating center events and initiatives, partnering with campus offices and student organizations, and overseeing the SOGIE educator and internship programs.

    Duties will include but are not limited to:

    + Provide administrative and programmatic oversight for center events and initiatives including curriculum development, facilitation, and evaluation

    + Supervise, recruit, and train team of undergraduate SOGIE (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression) educators

    + Manage the Q Center internship program through recruitment, training, and consistent supervision of a cohort of undergraduate student interns

    + Create leadership development workshops and professional development opportunities for student staff and interns

    + Coordinate outreach programs for LGBTQ+ student organizations, academic departments and local community organizations

    + Collaborate with university offices, units, academic departments, student groups across campus, and local community organizations

    + Develop a comprehensive programming calendar in advance of each semester that includes signature programs and events that are connected to heritage months, celebratory days, and current events/relevant topics

    + Coordinate and conduct presentations to promote Q Center services, programs and collaborative activities

    + Lead the center communications, inclusive of developing marketing (posters/flyers) and social media

    Job Requirements:

    + Bachelor's degree

    + Experience developing and facilitating dynamic educational workshops for diverse groups

    + Demonstrated experience working with and supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community

    + Competence in intercultural communication

    + Demonstrated knowledge of LGBTQIA2S+ identities and intersectionality

    + Available to work outside of standard business hours, including evening and weekend hours to support events and center initiatives

    + Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication and organizational skills

    Preferred:

    + Master's degree

    + Demonstrated success working on teams and supporting colleagues and students on collaborative initiatives

    + Experience working with student leadership development initiatives, retention programs and mentorship initiatives

    + Knowledge of student and leadership development theory and identity development models
