The Spanish Tutor will provide one-on-one tutoring assistance to students in the Spanish Track program in order to improve student performance, retention and course success. This position will provide support as needed. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
+ Provide one-on-one content-focused tutoring assistance to students in the Spanish track program of Early Childhood Education (https://minneapolis.edu/academics/school-education-and-public-and-human-service/early-childhood-education) (ECED).
+ Provide expertise for commonly requested non-course content assistance such as D2L.
+ Provide walk-in and appointment tutoring.
+ Meet regularly with teaching faculty to report student needs and progress
Minimum Qualifications
+ Fluent in speaking, understanding, reading and writing in Spanish.
+ Must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate program.
+ If the student is enrolled at a credit-granting institution he or she must be carrying at least six semester (nine quarter) credits.
+ If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, the student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter.
+ Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities
Preferred Qualifications
+ Successful completion of one year of Early Childhood Education program coursework; or two years work experience in the field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Excellent, demonstrated working knowledge of D2L, long distance learning and basic office software.
+ Basic understanding of course goals and outcomes.
+ Experience teaching or tutoring.
Additional Requirements
Current/or former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College for consideration.
