Job description
This is a technical leadership role. The Director of Engineering is responsible for the day-to- day execution of engineering projects and deliverables including schedules and budgets. The Director of Engineering is also responsible for the technical content of the engineering deliverables.
•Ensure the appropriate NAT quality standards and regulatory requirements are met throughout the design, development, substantiation, installation and support phases of all engineering projects
•Ensure engineering projects are completed on time and within budgets
•Maintain a skilled, productive and motivated work force
•Develop appropriate organizational structure and personnel to support the engineering
Statement of Work (SOW) for all ongoing and forecasted engineering projects
•Develop and communicate company vision and corporate objectives
•Supply appropriate resources to support Business Development in the preparation of Technical Proposals, Kit Lists, Engineering Estimates, etc.
•Collaborate with other departments to achieve company goals.
•Develop, implement and maintain department processes and procedures
•Manage the Engineering Managers and Project Engineers
•Understand and promote all health, safety and environmental legal and regulatory requirements including company policies and standards. Lead by example, enforce and sustain a strong minded safety culture and compliance driven practices in the work environment.
•Develop, manage and report monthly department KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) and ensure the KPI's meet the company targets
•Responsible for all department tools (hardware, software, company specific applications, etc.) used by Managers and Engineers within all engineering disciplines
The Director of Engineering has the authority to:
•Implement appropriate organization structure to accomplish statement of work
•Onboard and Train personnel as required to improve/maintain skill base
•Obtain required tools and equipment for the department
Candidate skills & requirements
The Director of Engineering should have a four (4) year technical degree in an appropriate engineering field and experience leading teams is required. Additional training in leadership, management, business administration, program management and risk management is preferred.
Fifteen or more years of broad technical experience, with at least ten of those years being in the aerospace industry is desired. Travel will be required periodically to both domestic and international locations in support of customer meetings, design reviews and/or marketing campaigns.
