    Born from many well-known and long-standing brands, Howmet Fastening Systems, headquartered in Torrance, California, is the premier designer and manufacturer of aerospace and industrial fasteners, latches, fluid fittings and installation tools. Our products are used nose to tail on commercial and military aircraft, as well as on jet engines, industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, wind turbines, solar power systems, and construction and industrial equipment.

     

    Howmet Fastening Systems is looking for a Product Engineer in our Torrance, CA location. This position has responsibility for all human resources function within the manufacturing plants at our Torrance location.

    Responsibilities:

    + Plan, initiate, and drive development of new fastener products and improvements

    + Collaborate and build relationships with customers on fastener concepts and qualification activities

    + Initiate and prepare product samples and tests for customers and internal management

    + Oversee qualification testing and prepare qualification reports in accordance with customer procurement specifications to become an approved supplier

    + Create and revise product drawings, specifications, and product control documents in accordance with customer requirements

    + Support Sales and Application Engineering activities

    + Support customers with troubleshooting support through detailed analysis of fastener and installation system problems, including supporting corrective actions as needed

    + Oversee manufacturing planning, drawings, and router preparation to ensure the proper flow of the product from the drawing to the completion of the parts, including tooling, manufacturing operations, processing, testing, and suppliers

    + Provide feedback to Operations management on opportunities for manufacturing process improvements that improve safety, produce higher quality, reduce costs, or increase productivity

    + Participate as a key member of cross-functional teams engaged in manufacturing process improvement

    + Key member of MRB to investigate product rejections and provide researched decisions

    + Prepare and document Design and Development activities in accordance with AS9100 Quality standard

    + Work with laboratories on testing and preparation of test data

    + Utilize analytical tools and simulation software to evaluate product performance and interactions

    + Complete all backup, filing and data management associated with work activities to ensure the creation and maintenance of a reliable database of key, proprietary information

    + Ensure all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards

    Basic Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in engineering from 4 year university

    + Minimum 2 years of experience in engineering

    + Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

    + This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee

    Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:

    + Master's degree in engineering

    + Knowledge of Aerospace forging, machining, & fastening processes preferred

    + Knowledge of Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and scientific methods for problem solving

    + Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple large projects and interact with all organization levels

    + Experience managing multiple complex projects and delivering under tight deadlines and resource constraints.

    + Exceptional written/oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

    + Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs

    + Problem-solving skills; ability to arrive at reliable conclusions based on analysis of information

    + Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, for practical solutions

    + Ability to comprehend and generate creative design solutions; translate concepts and information into images; use feedback to modify designs

    + Ability to write reports, business correspondence, work instructions, and procedure manuals.

    Additional Requirements:

    + Must be able to work on site in Torrance, California. Remote work not considered.

    Benefits/Salary:

    The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package available day one of hire, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays and vacation. The salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$105,000.00.
