Description
We're seeking a **Metabolic and Bariatrics Program Manager** who manages Accreditation criteria to ensure the facility meets expectations set forth by governing agencies. This individual maintains and ensures compliance of all policies and procedures that guide and support the assigned services. These include, but are not limited to Joint Commission requirements, federal and state regulations, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) standards, etc. This individual serves as the liaison between the assigned facility and MBSAQIP.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Facilitates, develops, and maintains system-wide MBS policies, protocols, and standard workflows in policy manager.
+ Participate in onboarding, orientation, and training of all new MBS coordinators in the EHC system or business agreement entities.
+ Collaborates on an ongoing basis with MBS Director (s) or surgeon leads, clinical staff and physicians, and external sites promoting positive communication techniques and the ability to problem solve at every level.
+ Works with MBS Director, Obesity Medicine Director, Director of Quality and Patient Safety and Hospital Administration to anticipate and identify the needs of the center(s) and creatively implements solutions to problems.
+ Integrates Evidence Based Practice into program improvements.
+ Completes routine programmatic rounding to bariatric and weight management programs within the healthcare system.
+ Collaborates and engages in system-level MBS program quality improvement, meetings, and accreditation support.
+ Position may include coordination of multiple hospital sites, EHC system coordination, or comprehensive center responsibility.
+ Provides orientation/education for facility staff, students, and other hospitals and community organizations, as requested.
+ May administer patient care to patients; includes assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating the patient's care plan in coordination with the physician.
+ Provides patient/family or caregiver education and counseling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional, spiritual, and environmental health problems.
+ Utilizes hospital information systems to process orders/data and retrieve patient information.
+ Maintains knowledge of documentation requirements needed for patients' medical records.
+ Works independently with limited direct supervision using the applicable practice standards, hospital policies and professional judgment.
+ Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance and use.
+ Maintains confidentiality regarding all patient/personnel information.
+ Demonstrates effective teaching methods for multi-level individuals and/or groups for delivering effective personalized, patient-centered, family-focused outcomes and professional development of colleagues.
+ Ensures effective staff education, including orientation, focused education, and reinforcement education, to achieve performance outcomes for leading best practice and safe care.
+ Contributes to and supports MBS program staff, and educators through planning, implementing, and evaluating educational efforts and learning methods (i.e., 1:1 coaching, classroom lectures, presentations, e-learning, etc.).
+ Demonstrates effective problem identification and resolution.
+ Regularly evaluates programs, orientation, and staff development and identifies plans for improvement.
+ Serves as an EHC, entity, and MBSAQIP liaison to clinics to align with entity, system, and MBSAQIP standards, policies, and procedures.
+ Routinely provides reports to hospital leadership regarding the overall state of the EHC MBS programs trends, opportunities for growth, quality improvement initiatives, and developments.
+ Provides consultation in specialty area to all levels of health care providers throughout the organization, affiliated schools of nursing, and the community.
+ Demonstrates an awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice and development.
+ Actively participates/coordinates committees, task forces, and in work groups as needed/requested.
+ Serves as a resource to staff for regulatory standards.
+ Fosters identification of patient safety risks and application of practices to reduce harm.
+ Facilitator/leader of patient and family support groups.
+ Assist with website forums and program promotion through various media.
+ Develop written materials for patient education.
+ Review and summarize patient information for discussion with bariatric team.
+ Provides oversight, reporting, and data entry for multiple insurance-based accreditation or MBS distinction programs (e.g., Optum, BCBS, Aetna, etc.) beyond MBSAQIP requirements.
+ May serve as MBS Clinical Reviewer (i.e., Quality Management Specialist) during the absence of designated data abstractor.
+ Completion of training and maintenance of certification with MBSAQIP is required annually.
+ Collaborates with clinical data entry specialist.
+ May be assigned to facilitate onboarding, training, and data chart audits for MBSCR.
+ Expected to provide subject matter expertise on requirements for the bariatric program(s).
+ Works collaboratively with hospital leadership to develop new weight loss and or health and wellness programs (i.e., accredited obesity medicine programs, wellness centers, sports medicine, fitness facilities.)
+ Completion of internal or external process improvement training is expected.
+ Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Required Bachelor degree in health related field required, or actively in pursuit degree to be obtained within 18 months of hire.
+ Minimum of five years of experience as a healthcare provider (registered nurse. dietician, advanced practice provider, etc.)
+ Possession of a current license as a registered nurse, registered dietitian or other licensed healthcare provider issued by the State of Georgia.
+ If RN, must have a valid, active license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
+ Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required): High level of interpersonal/communication skills to promote team approach.
+ Excellent written and verbal skills required.
+ Preferred Qualifications: Three year's current experience in the area of bariatrics preferred. Master's degree in health related field preferred. Bariatric specific credentialing preferred.
