    What you'll do...

     

    Ford Motor Company’s **Electrified Propulsion Engineering (EPE)** team is seeking a passionate and experienced CVM Design and Release Engineer (D&R Engineer) that will be responsible for designing and releasing HV Battery Cell Vent Management (CVM) components within the HV Battery system. The engineer should have strong foundational understanding of engineering principles with a proven track-record of HV battery thermal runaway component delivery (e.g., Mica thermal shielding, silicone-based thermal shielding, Spray-Transfer Molding, etc.).

     

    The Engineer will work with material and system technical specialists, application teams, testing teams, and manufacturing teams to define, design, source and deliver CVM components meeting functional and corporate Trustmark and regulatory targets. The D&R Engineer will also manage component suppliers throughout the entire design development process (from concept to production) and will be responsible for program deliverables, including foundational documents like Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Boundary diagrams, Special Characteristics Communication and Agreement Form (SCCAF), component Design Verification (DV) testing, Supplier sourcing, requirements, design rule compliance, and much more.

     

    + Technical development and design of thermal shielding technology that meets functional requirements for Battery Electric (BEV), Extended-Range (EREV), Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Hybrid (HEV) Electric Vehicle battery systems.

    + Technical development and Pressure Relief and Equalization technology that meets functional requirements for Battery Electric (BEV), Extended-Range (EREV), Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Hybrid (HEV) Electric Vehicle battery systems.

    + Design and Release CVM thermal shield components within the HV battery system to support all prototype and production milestones throughout the program life cycle.

    + Develop Request-For-Information (RFI), Request-For-Quote (RFQ), and manage battery unit-level financials in cooperation with commercial team.

    + Develop system Boundary Diagrams, Parameter Diagrams (P-Diagrams), Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and other foundational documentation.

    + Support Development of 3D modeling and design.

    + Collaborate with the Engineering Team for Packaging as well as with other Internal Pack Module & Component Engineers.

    + Support all pack build phases and discuss/resolve issues with the commodity suppliers.

    + Work with suppliers to ensure timing is met with Quality, Cost, Weight, and Function.

    + Validate design changes through either Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) &/or bench level testing for the build phases.

    + Develop, review and signoff on testing data per the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) plan.

    + Release and Update Components Using the Ford Motor Company’s Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS) System.

    + Direct supplier management and interface.

     

    You'll have...

     

    + Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Thermal, Industrial or Chemical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

    + 2+ years of High Voltage (HV) Battery component D&R experience with a background in thermal runaway mitigation/ Cell Vent Management component design.

    + Experience with quality documentation like DFMEA, SCCAF and DVP&R and others.

    + Experience using Teamcenter & CATIA Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.

    + Experience with Microsoft Office Tools.

    + Willingness and passion for learning new technologies and ability to work in a dynamic engineering environment.

     

    Even better, you may have...

     

    + Master of Science in Mechanical, Thermal, Industrial or Chemical Engineering.

    + 5+ years of HV Battery component D&R experience with a background in thermal runaway mitigation/ Cell Vent Management component design.

    + Proven understanding of CAE.

    + Experience in Ford Product development systems and tools.

    + Experience in prototype, part fabrication, and testing setup.

    + Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

    + Experience managing and interfacing with suppliers.

    This position is a range of salary grades 6-8.
