    Occupational Therapists (OTs) provide a wide range of services to individuals who have been referred by a physician due to difficulties in performing activities of daily living (ADLs). These challenges may result from physical injuries, emotional or developmental disorders, stroke, elective surgery, disease processes, aging, or congenital conditions, among other causes.

     

    The primary goal of occupational therapy is to help each person achieve the highest possible level of independence in self-care, work, and leisure activities, according to their physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities. Ultimately, OTs aim to help individuals regain or develop the skills necessary to lead independent, productive, and fulfilling lives.

     

    A caregiver in this position works days, 7:30am-4:00pm.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.

    + Assess patient 's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills and design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.

    + Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities and document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.

    + Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.

    + Direct and supervise the activities of support personnel.

    + Act a clinical instructor or participate in the education and evaluation of students.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Bachelor's degree

    + Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association

    + Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)

    + Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Experience working with children

    + Inpatient experience

    Physical Requirements:

    + Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.

    + Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.

    + Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.

    + Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.

    + Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.

    + Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.

    + Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

     

    Pay Range

     

    Minimum Annual Salary: $69,600.00

     

    Maximum Annual Salary: $106,132.50

     

    The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
