Job Summary
The Associate Data Analyst is an analytically focused position within the Cyber Risk Management (CRM) team in the Information Protection & Security (IPS) department at HCA Healthcare. The CRM team consists of the following functional areas: Cyber Risk Management, Issues Management, Controls Testing, and Data Analytics.
This position is responsible for innovating new capabilities by driving requirements for the design, development, testing, and deployment of data solutions with the objective of making risk visible, driving awareness and accountability, and facilitating well-informed decision-making. This position will deliver these risk-based data solutions for areas of IPS, including Cyber Risk Management, Identity Engagement, Workforce Behaviors, Cyber Security, and Field Operations. Any data products developed in support of this position will involve ownership of individual data products and serve as a subject matter expert for those products.
This position requires a combination of strategic vision, creative visual design for reporting data, an ability to translate complex data into business and risk requirements, and demonstrated interpersonal competencies of listening, communicating, and influencing. The successful candidate will possess a natural intellectual curiosity to learn new things and proficiency at problem solving as well as expertise in data content, which can only be facilitated through much querying, analysis, and engagement in our business and risk operations.
Duties will also include analyzing and understanding business risk processes and problems, creating reporting requirements, managing operational data tasks, and identifying and defining data linkages within and across subject areas within IPS. This role will collaborate with others on data gathering, manipulation, and the development and distribution of dashboards and reports.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience in one or more of the following domains: SQL, PowerBI, Python, Alteryx, general automation skills, MS Office Suite (e.g., Excel), data storytelling, and data correlation.
Major Responsibilities
The Associate Data Analyst will drive requirements to help evolve a data-centric risk reporting capability for the Information Protection & Security department. This person will be responsible for:
+ Simplifying complex and varied data sets into easy-to-consume stories and visuals to facilitate well-informed decision making by executive level leaders at the corporate office and in the field
+ Working in tandem with other IPS teams to develop dashboards and reports that are:
+ Executive leadership focused across the enterprise that help drive ownership and accountability of risk, and ultimately, drive action to remediate, mitigate, avoid, or accept risk.
+ Internally focused within IPS and ITG to drive strategy, planning and prioritization of efforts
+ Maintaining metrics that can be used to support the overall Cyber Risk Management program
This position will achieve these objectives by:
+ Working closely with other IPS and ITG teams to drive integration of data sources from disparate teams within IPS, Information Technology Group (ITG), and the business
+ Creating and following standardized processes to manage, analyze, correlate, and present data:
+ Data types include incidents, controls, log & event correlation data, access related data, vulnerabilities, threat intelligence and trends, healthcare sector trends and benchmarks, external security trends, etc.
+ Being a self-starter/self-motivated and driven to exceed established goals
+ This position will initially focus on taking over current Cyber Risk Management data products and will be expected to become the SME and product lead.
Other Responsibilities include:
+ Defining requirements for correlating existing data sets to risk metrics
+ Presenting data in clear and meaningful ways to be consumed by multiple audiences
+ Collecting and collating ad-hoc data as needed
+ Leading efforts to operationalize and automate data collection processes
+ Maturing current data capture processes and recommend enhancements and improvements where appropriate
+ Assisting in capturing, analyzing, and documenting requirements for analytical solutions
+ Working collaboratively with IPS, ITG, Executive Leadership, and Business Unit staff to understand needs for information delivery
+ With minimal direction and supervision, acting as subject matter specialist to assist development of the appropriate strategies, plans, requirements and approaches to ensure successful implementation of reports, dashboards and benchmarks.
+ Growing professionally to assume greater responsibilities for the activities listed above and demonstrate hands-on technical capability
+ Building and maintaining strong, effective working relationships with IPS staff, business owners, ITG leadership and staff, and other stakeholders involved with IPS data and reporting initiatives
Education & Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree Required
+ Master's degree Information Systems Preferred
+ 1+ year(s) of experience in a Data Analyst or similar role Required
+ 1+ year(s) of experience in data visualization Preferred
+ 3+ years of experience in using data to define business requirements and deliverable work product Preferred
+ 1+ year(s) of experience in some combination of audit, risk management, information security, privacy, and technology Preferred
Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Licenses, Certifications, & Training:
+ Certifications within Azure, GCP, Alteryx and/or PowerBI Preferred
