How will you make an impact in this role?
American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is dedicated to the success of businesses big and small with the vision to be essential to our customers’ businesses every day. As part of GCS Products organization, the Small Business Partnerships and Business Development team is responsible for managing existing partners that have embedded benefits on our core business card products with operational excellence as well as defining the strategy, identifying and negotiating new opportunities, and launching new partnerships.
The Senior Manager, Business Development responsibilities will span that of new partner strategy and new business development including, financial analysis, pitch, negotiation and contracting to drive new partner-funded value and experiences on GCS core card products.
Key Responsibilities:
+ **Strategic Analysis –** Evaluate new partners leveraging internal and external data to support partner pipeline. Ability to bring others along by influencing internal partners and leadership on the options to solve small business owner needs
+ **Financial Analysis –** Build and develop excel financial models to evaluate key commercial terms. Ability to read and interpret cost-benefit analysis and complete sensitivity analyses. Apply critical thinking on financials to clearly articulate data internally and externally
+ **Partner Negotiation –** Ability to navigate challenging conversations and develop creative solutions to potential roadblocks. Leverage deep understanding of pitch (data, marketing, etc.) and partner needs to develop the right solution for the customer, the partner and AXP
+ **Contract Negotiation –** Lead documentation and contract support. Manage negotiation and execution process, ensuring contracts are vetted and approved through necessary channels including legal, compliance, etc.
+ **Project Management –** Play a central role in project management of established BD processes including, but not limited to, data deep dives with Data Analytics, cost-benefit analysis with Finance, key terms and contracting with GOC, third-party lifecycle management, and new product approval
+ **External and cross-functional relationship management** – build and strengthen relationships with key external partners; develop relationships with critical internal partners including but not limited to Card Product, Consumer Business Development, Analytics, Finance, Merchant Services, and Strategic Partnerships
+ Occasional travel
Minimum Qualifications
+ The ideal candidate is a curious, strategic, ambitious, self-starter who can drive results with minimal supervision
+ Experience developing business strategies from the ground up, as well as associated business cases and implementation plans
+ Excellent analytical, business & financial skills with ability to develop and evaluate revenue models plus navigate opportunities and pivots through complex negotiations
+ Exceptional relationship, negotiation, and influencing skills; proven ability to drive results through collaboration with partners
+ Proven track record navigating complex negotiations and challenging projects to drive results
+ Attention to detail and an ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects
+ Superior verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively across a variety of audiences and influence business decisions at all levels
+ Bachelor's degree
Qualifications
Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually bonus benefits
