About our team

The Gnome team within the Sponsored Products and Brands (SPB) improves ad selection helping shoppers reach their shopping mission. To do this, we apply a broad range of machine learning, causal inference, reinforcement learning based optimization techniques and LLMs to continuously explore, learn, and optimize ads shown. We are an interdisciplinary team with a focus on customer obsession and inventing and simplifying. Our primary focus is on improving the ads experience by gaining a deep understanding of shopper pain points and developing new innovative solutions to address them.

A day in the life (role summary)

As a Sr MLE on the Gnome team, you will be responsible for developing and managing the machine learning models, infrastructure, scalable real-time ML inference solutions in low-latency setting, and data transformation and engineering solutions to compute ML model features. This role also needs to continue raising the bar in operational excellence, including pro-actively identifying and delivering improvements and dealing with production issues effectively with clarity in communication.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

- Experience with developing machine learning and natural language processing products

- Experience Experience in online advertising or high-tech products/services

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
