Job Title: Electronics Engineer - Associate Engineer
Job Description
This role is an integral part of the Electronics team, focusing on the validation of wire harnessing, circuit protection, and relay systems. The position emphasizes strategic planning, supplier coordination, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure product readiness and alignment with customer requirements and internal quality standards.
Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with test engineers to develop comprehensive validation strategies and test plans that align with product group requirements and supplier capabilities.
+ Manage DFMEA/PFMEA, DVP&R, and risk mitigation processes.
+ Identify potential risks in validation timelines, supply chain readiness, and product integration, and develop mitigation plans with stakeholders.
+ Serve as a liaison between CAT Electronics, tier 1 suppliers, and internal product groups to ensure clear communication of technical requirements, validation expectations, and delivery timelines.
+ Participate in early-stage product development discussions to integrate validation needs into design and sourcing decisions.
+ Monitor and support supply chain health for critical components, addressing issues related to availability, quality, and compliance.
+ Assist in creating and reviewing validation documentation, including requirement traceability, supplier test reports, and internal planning artifacts.
+ Support the validation of electronic components and harnesses through effective planning and coordination.
+ Facilitate communication and documentation flow between engineering, quality, supply chain, and external partners.
+ Attend cross-functional meetings to align on validation priorities and timelines.
+ Review and refine test plans and requirement documents with engineering teams.
+ Coordinate with suppliers to confirm readiness and resolve technical or logistical issues, and report on validation progress, risks, and deliverables.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
+ Hands-on experience in mechanical or electrical testing/validation.
+ Ability to understand results and draw conclusions.
+ Proficiency in Excel.
+ Knowledge of EMC/Vibration testing, electrical engineering, and new product development.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with CREO is a plus.
+ Background in mechatronics or robotics.
+ Familiarity with testing equipment, circuit protection, and wire harnessing.
Work Environment
The position is 100% on site with flexible working hours. It requires approximately 15% travel to supplier sites.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of East Peoria, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $39.00/hr.
