Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Piping Designer to join our consulting engineering team. This role involves designing and drafting piping systems, such as utilities, chemical, steam, condensate, cooling water, compressed air, and process gas lines for industrial facilities including automotive, chemical, food and beverage, and more. The ideal candidate will have experience with 3D modeling software and a strong understanding of piping codes, materials, and layout principles.

Responsibilities

+ Develop piping layouts and isometric drawings using CAD software.

+ Collaborate with engineers to interpret project specifications and process flow diagrams (PFDs and P&IDs).

+ Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.

+ Coordinate with other disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical) to resolve design conflicts.

+ Perform field visits to gather data and verify existing conditions.

+ Support construction and procurement teams with accurate documentation and material take-offs.

Essential Skills

+ 4+ years of industrial piping design experience.

+ Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D or 3D.

+ Familiarity with the person, ANSI, and API piping codes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Technical degree.

+ Experience with process gas lines like hydrogen and carbon dioxide.

Work Environment

The work environment is dynamic with a small office located conveniently off of a major highway. It features a typical engineering office setup with cubicles and offices. The dress code is business casual to casual, allowing jeans and a polo shirt. Work hours are flexible, with a start time between 7-8 AM and an end time between 3:30-5 PM. This is an in-office role with a relaxed group culture, typically requiring around 40 hours per week with minimal overtime.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $43.00/hr.
