Job Title: Field Service EngineerJob Description

We are seeking an entry-level Engineer for a position with an automotive custom machine manufacturer client of ours.

This role is ideal for candidates eager to transition into controls engineering roles after gaining foundational experience. You will begin by applying the basic fundamentals learned in school and play a critical role in projects, leveraging hands-on experience from co-ops or internships.

-This individual would spend about 2-4 months training onsite in GR, receiving instruction and guidance for when you head out on the road.

+ Travel: 70-90%, across the U.S.

Responsibilities

+ Engage in a hands-on engineering role with initial focus on learning and training.

+ Observe, shadow, and replicate engineering tasks as part of the training.

+ Assist customers in starting up, running, and commissioning equipment.

+ Work with electrical assembly of panels, high voltage power sources, PLC panels, transistors, and motor drives.

+ Operate on large metal, hydraulic, and mechanically automated equipment.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)

+ Fundamental understanding of PLC/ladder logic

+ Eagerness to develop new skills

+ Mechanical and electrical aptitude

+ Clean driving record

"Nice to have" Skills & Qualifications

+ 1-2 years of experience in relevant field

+ Experience with PLC programming

+ Co-ops or internships in related areas

Work Environment

The position requires a mix of desk work and hands-on machine interaction at the home base.

Critical responsibilities are executed on the floor at customer sites, involving troubleshooting, installing, and servicing equipment. The role demands extensive travel across the US, and offers overtime and double-time pay for applicable hours.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
