    We are seeking to add two Embedded Linux Engineers to our team to develop embedded Linux software for a submarine acoustic system. This team is embarking on a cutting-edge, multi-year effort focused on developing next-generation embedded software for newly designed hardware platforms. This initiative supports advanced defense systems and requires deep technical expertise in Linux-based environments, kernel development, and hardware/software integration.

    Responsibilities

    + Contribute to the development of Linux applications and Device Drivers for custom hardware.

    + Write and maintain code in C/C++, Bash, and Python.

    + Integrate and debug Linux OS on ARM-based embedded systems.

    + Collaborate with hardware teams to ensure seamless software/hardware integration.

    + Perform software testing, validation, and long-term maintenance of embedded systems.

    + Support system bring-up and troubleshooting on new hardware platforms.

    + Participate in architectural decisions and contribute to system-level design.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

    + 3+ years of expertise in Linux OS, including kernel-level development.

    + Experience developing Linux Kernel applications and Device Drivers.

    + Proficiency in C/C++, Bash, and Python.

    + Understanding of Operating Systems internals.

    + Eligible for US Secret Clearance (must have at least interim to start).

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Familiarity with ARM hardware platforms and embedded system design.

    + Demonstrated ability in Linux integration and debugging.

    + Prior experience in defense or aerospace embedded systems.

    + Experience with real-time systems and performance optimization.

    + Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.

    + Experience working in an Agile Development Environment.

    Work Environment

    This position is 100% on site in the ARCI Lab in Manassas. You will be working alongside industry experts, our client's team, and many other integrators who interact with the platforms. The work environment is collaborative and focused on innovation, providing the opportunity to lead technical discussions and contribute to task allocation for new hardware requirements, with over 50% of the software developed from scratch.

    This is a Contract position based out of Manassas, VA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr.
