Job Title: Protection and Control EngineerJob Description

The role involves designing and drafting engineering deliverables such as one-line diagrams, panel layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams for protection and control systems. You will be responsible for selecting and specifying equipment like protective relays, circuit breakers, and other control devices. System analysis tasks include performing engineering studies and calculations for grounding, lightning protection, and AC/DC load studies. Additionally, you will assist with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) upgrades and additions, coordinate design activities with other departments, and provide technical guidance during construction. Quality assurance through design deliverables reviews and client interactions to discuss project requirements are also integral parts of this position.

Responsibilities

+ Prepare engineering deliverables such as one-line diagrams, panel layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams for protection and control systems.

+ Select and specify equipment such as protective relays, circuit breakers, and other control devices.

+ Perform engineering studies and calculations for grounding, lightning protection, and AC/DC load studies.

+ Assist with SCADA upgrades and additions.

+ Coordinate design activities with other departments and provide technical guidance during construction.

+ Perform quality reviews on design deliverables.

+ Meet and correspond with clients to discuss project requirements.

Essential Skills

+ Strong knowledge of protective relay applications and philosophies.

+ Familiarity with relevant industry standards such as NESC and IEEE.

+ Experience with software for system studies and relay settings.

+ Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Knowledge of digital substation systems such as IEC is considered a plus.

Work Environment

This position is based in a professional engineering office with some site visits to substations required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesterfield, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
