Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop compliant software modules for robotic system control and subsystem communication. This role involves implementing messaging between the robotic system, the main platform control system, and other system interfaces. You will collaborate with hardware and mechanical engineering teams to define control and feedback requirements, and develop simulation and test environments for validating communication protocols.

Responsibilities

+ Develop the person-compliant software modules for robotic system control and subsystem communication.

+ Implement messaging between the robotic system, the main platform control system, and other system interfaces.

+ Collaborate with hardware and mechanical engineering teams to define control and feedback requirements.

+ Develop simulation and test environments for validating communication protocols.

+ Ensure compliance with relevant MIL-STD-6016, SAE AS-4 standards, and project-specific requirements.

+ Provide and support technical documentation development, including interface control documents (ICDs), API references, and compliance reports.

+ Support integration, debugging, and field testing.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.

+ 3+ years experience with robotics or unmanned systems software development.

+ Proven experience with the person protocol implementation.

+ Proficiency in C++ and/or C, Python (ROS experience a plus).

+ Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) or embedded Linux environments.

+ Experience with network communication protocols (UDP/TCP, multicast, serial).

+ Ability to read and implement Interface Control Documents (ICDs).

+ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Aerospace and defense industry experience.

+ Experience with munitions, weapons, and ammunitions systems.

+ Must be a US Citizen .

Work Environment

This role offers the opportunity to work at a small, dynamic company located at Picatinny. Employees enjoy a balance between autonomy and collaboration, as you will split your time between Rockaway and Picatinny. The work environment includes a manufacturing and prototyping shop, with expertise in munitions, weapons, and system integration. Our company is committed to design, craftsmanship, and performance, challenging assumptions about how warfighter products should be developed and built. Dress code is business casual.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Rockaway, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
