Summary:
Join our Adult Residential team in Topsham, as the Assistant Supervisor!
Participate in a dynamic team providing support to individuals with mental illness. Provide for a positive environment to foster the development of independent living skills while monitoring and role modeling health and safety. Maintains ongoing residential effectiveness by assuring the administrative coordination of a variety of safety, therapeutic, and operational issues, and oversees daily administrative activities. Collaborates with all staff and client families to accomplish the establishment and maintenance of a safe, effective milieu.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Provides leadership to the team in conjunction with Supervisor.
•Initiates resolution of compliance issues as they are identified.
•Assists staff with daily duties and supports the team as a whole
•Provides administrative oversight and supervision by scheduling of staff, assisting the Supervisor with supervision of relief staff and providing staff feedback as needed.
•Provides enhanced support/coordination with providers to ensure residents needs are met.
•Thoroughly understands and appropriately uses behavior management, active listening, positive and negative feedback as well as systems in client and family centered practice.
•Supports individuals by being flexible, non-judgmental and having positive regard to improve the individual's outcome in a collaborative manor.
•Actively assists clients in achieving their goals.
•Implements supervisory directions.
•Promote and maintain basic milieu practices regarding, structuring the environment (therapeutic and safety), safety, awareness, behavioral management and communication.
•Directs and participate in therapeutic interactions, skills building, role in modeling and carrying out treatment plan.
•Direct, support, and participate in identifying, removing or reducing the likelihood of common safety concerns such as:
1.Unsafe client behavior
2.Threats directed at self, staff, client family, or residential peers
3.Unsafe staff behavior
4.Acute milieu or environment situational dangers including sharps, meds, dangerous chemicals, detergents and cleaners as well as personal items of staff or clients which could become safety concerns such as, key sets, small penknives, mace, contents of a wallet which could include credit cards, addresses, etc.
•CRMA certified, responsible for passing medicines and appropriate documentation.
EDUCATION:
•High school diploma required, associate’s degree preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
•Valid state driver’s license.
•Ability to obtain MHRT-1 certification within 1 year of employment
EXPERIENCE:
•One (1) year of exerience working in mental health, required.
•Supervisory experience, preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
•Ability to model objective observation and communication.
•Successful demonstrated competence in all duties and responsibilities required of Adult Residential Support Counselors
