    The Assistant Coach for Men-s and Women-s Cross Country/Track & Field is responsible for supporting all aspects of the cross country and track & field programs. Primary responsibilities include assisting with recruiting and retaining quality student-athletes, coaching, practice and competition preparation, and strength and conditioning coordination to promote student-athlete success. The Assistant Coach ensures adherence to all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Additionally, this position assists with program operations, including travel coordination, equipment management, fundraising, and other assigned duties. The position reports directly to the Director of Cross Country/Track & Field.

    You will:

    + Assist in all aspects of the Men-s and Women-s Cross Country and Track & Field programs.

    + Support the recruitment, evaluation, and retention of qualified student-athletes who align with the University-s academic and athletic standards.

    + Coordinate on-campus recruiting visits in collaboration with the Head Coach and Admissions staff, ensuring compliance with NCAA, NEC, and University recruiting policies.

    + Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting practices, competitions, and conditioning sessions.

    + Demonstrate strong teaching and leadership skills that promote skill development, teamwork, and competitive excellence.

    + Travel to meets and competitions as required.

    + Foster academic success and personal growth of student-athletes through mentorship and collaboration with academic support services and campus partners.

    + Monitor class schedules, grades, and academic progress to support eligibility and retention.

    + Assist with program administration, including scheduling, travel coordination, and operational logistics.

    + Ensure adherence to all NCAA, NEC, and institutional rules and regulations.

    + Help manage team logistics, including equipment, event scheduling, and strength and conditioning.

    + Promote conduct that reflects the University-s core values and supports a positive team culture.

    + Collaborate with athletic training, strength and conditioning, and support staff to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all student-athletes.

    + Represent the program and University positively with alumni, community members, and external partners.

    + Complete administrative tasks and reports accurately and in a timely manner.

    You need:

    + Bachelor-s degree required; Master-s degree preferred.

    + Minimum of two years of demonstrated successful coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level (collegiate experience preferred).

    + Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with NCAA, NEC, and institutional rules and regulations.

    + Proven ability to recruit, develop, and mentor student-athletes.

    + Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    + Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contribute to campus diversity and inclusion efforts.

    + Commitment to attend all scheduled practices, competitions, and related team activities.

    + Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
