    Position description

    The Department of Psychology is currently hiring for an Assistant Project Scientist.     Criteria:

    + Candidate must have a PhD in Neuroscience, or equivalent.

    + Demonstrable experience/training in the field of cannabis and cannabinoids and their effects on physiological, behavioral, and -subjective measurements.

    + Demonstrable experience/training in the use of functional MRI (fMRI)

    + Demonstrable experience/training in the use of electroencephalography (EEG)

    + Demonstrable experience/training in the concurrent use of fMRI and EEG

    + Demonstrable experience/training on the use of phenomenological measures

    + Experience with Machine Learning methods to assess aspects of phenomenology preferred

    + History of publications and scientific presentations preferred

     

    Job responsibilities include supporting the PI. The appointee will be working, under the mentorship of Prof Monti, towards innovative research on neurocognitive processes relevant to substance use disorders (SUD) by leveraging established and novel neuroimaging technologies and pharmacological agents, including psychedelics and cannabinoids and their relationship to phenomenological measures. The appointee will also support ongoing research in the laboratory of Prof. Monti in the context of studies addressing phenomenology and neurophenomenology in the broad population as well as in select patient populations. These responsibilities may shift depending on the nature of funding obtained. The appointee will assist in implementing existing and future complex study protocols, coordinate research staff involvement in data gathering, and interact frequently with research staff to ensure the safety and quality of the research. Other duties will encompass independently and collaboratively write draft manuscripts of research study findings for submission to peer review journals, present research findings at national and international research conferences and submit grants through UCLA for research funding.

     

    The appointment will be for 100% starting December 2025.

    Qualifications
