Job Description:
This position will provide engineering design and support on divisional as well as technology development projects, about 80% office engineering design, support and administration, 20% prototyping, testing, and iterating those designs. Percentage split will vary throughout year based on projects.
Essential Functions:
+ Partners with Senior Engineers to develop design concepts, validate technical feasibility, and ensure alignment with project objectives using SolidWorks drafting and design software and PDM configuration management.
+ Manage full lifecycle of projects
+ Identifies opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in product design, materials, and processes. This included molded parts, sheet metal, weldments, machined components, extrusions, and forgings
+ Applies sound engineering judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze complex technical challenges.
+ Experience dimensioning and tolerancing parts/assemblies is required. Employee shall be able to analyze the effect of assembly tolerance stack-up.
+ Prepare new or revised part/assembly models/drawings, illustrations and be able to perform cost studies for the designs.
+ Support the construction of prototypes by performing or instructing Laboratory Technicians on modifying existing components, procuring rapid prototyped parts, building wire harnesses, basic sheet metal fabrication, and basic hand tool use.
+ Assist in the setting up of test instrumentation, perform various engineering tests and assist with problem solving.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Minimum Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
+ At least 1-2 years of job relevant experience
+ Experience with various types of hand tools, machines, and fabrication tools
+ Experience with SolidWorks & AutoCAD, MS Word & Excel, PDM.
+ Ability to understand, create, & sustain circuit/system diagrams
+ A strong candidate will be able to understand, modify, and compose computer programming languages for data manipulation and processing. Examples include C, C++, Python, PowerShell, and VBASIC.
+ Candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment, and as an individual contributor with minimal supervision.
+ Candidate must be a highly motivated team player with a positive attitude, and able to prioritize tasks and utilize time effectively.
