Job Title: Accountant/Purchasing Assistant
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Accountant/Purchasing Assistant to join our team. This role involves managing cost accounting functions and assisting in purchasing operations to support our growing company. You will collaborate closely with the CFO, VP of Manufacturing and Distribution, and the Director of R&D to ensure efficient financial and operational processes.
Responsibilities
+ Create and update manufacturing bills of material (BOMs) for products, including periodic updates for changes in materials, suppliers, costs, and various usage and scrap rate changes, in collaboration with the CFO.
+ Compare and analyze standard to actual production, labor, and overhead costs periodically, coordinating necessary changes with the CFO.
+ Ensure accurate classification of manufacturing facility expenses under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) by coordinating with the CFO.
+ Organize and participate in physical inventory counts and summarize results for management.
+ Investigate discrepancies in financial records and perform month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations, as directed by the CFO.
+ Prepare, distribute, and monitor standalone and blanket Purchase Orders (POs) to ensure timely supply and resupply of materials based on supplier and consultant quotes and proposals.
+ Maintain close contact with suppliers to adjust delivery schedules as necessary.
+ Authorize vendor payments and maintain purchasing and inventory records.
+ Recommend primary supply purchases and alternative supply options to reduce costs, improve quality, or stabilize the supply chain.
Essential Skills
+ A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or operations, or equivalent experience in an accounting and/or purchasing role.
+ 3+ years of experience, ideally in accounting.
+ Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
+ Critical thinking and decision-making skills based on data analysis.
+ Strong skills in Excel.
+ Excellent communication skills with stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Prior experience with NetSuite ERP is helpful.
Work Environment
The position is onsite in Ann Arbor, with working hours from 8 am to 5 pm. This role offers a long-term career opportunity within a growing company that is still in a startup phase but is experience a high amount of growth in a short amount of time.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ann Arbor, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.50/hr.
