    The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) is currently seeking a Communications Specialist 2 in the Office of Communications & Marketing

     

    The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) currently manages the delivery of IT infrastructure services to 89 Executive Branch agencies and managed network services to more than 1,200 state and local government entities. IT infrastructure services encompass mainframes, servers, service desk, end user computing, disaster recovery and security. Managed network services include the state’s wide and local area networks, voice, cable and wiring, and conferencing services.

    JOB SUMMARY: The Communications Specialist 2 supports the planning, development, and execution of communication initiatives that advance organizational goals. This role creates clear, engaging content across digital, print, and social channels; coordinates campaigns and events; and helps ensure brand consistency and message alignment across all communications.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and refinement of high-impact content, including press releases, web copy, executive talking points, internal communications, and stakeholder newsletters, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and brand voice.

    + Assist with the strategy and execution of assigned social media channels, shaping content direction, enhancing engagement, and analyzing performance metrics to inform growth and optimization.

    + Develop and implement integrated communications plans in collaboration with program leads and senior stakeholders to support major initiatives, campaigns, or events.

    + Draft and review advanced communications materials, including executive speeches, op-eds, leadership messages, campaign toolkits, and crisis communications.

    + Serve as the primary communications liaison for assigned business units, managing stakeholder relationships and providing strategic guidance on messaging and outreach.

    + Support the production of multimedia and digital storytelling projects—such as photo, video, or animation—ensuring alignment with brand, accessibility, and messaging standards.

    + Design and approve print and digital collateral, including brochures, reports, email templates, and social media assets, maintaining brand consistency and visual integrity.

    + Maintain and manage editorial calendars, ensuring timely delivery of content and alignment across platforms.

    + Track, analyze, and report on communications performance using data insights to refine strategies and improve engagement.

    + Coordinate effectively with internal departments and external partners, agencies, or vendors to ensure seamless execution of communications initiatives.

    + Provide editorial guidance and feedback to junior team members to strengthen writing, tone, and alignment with brand messaging.

    + Performs all other duties as assigned

    AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    Core Competencies:

    + Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences.

    + Demonstrated experience developing and executing communication strategies across digital, print, and social channels.

    + Familiarity with accessibility standards and brand management best practices.

    + Strong collaboration, project management, and relationship-building skills.

    + Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing or related field AND five (5) years of experience in communications, media relations, or public affairs experience WITH Two (2) years of progressive marketing experience, hands-on with digital strategy and analytics.

     

    Note: An equivalent combination of education and job-specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience, and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications: (Preference will be given to candidates who, demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience):

    + Professional certification (e.g., PRSA Accreditation in Public Relations (APR), or equivalent credential).

    + Proficiency in CMS and digital publishing tools; ability to optimize web content for clarity and accessibility.

    + Familiarity with AI-enabled tools for writing, media monitoring, and analytics (e.g., generative content, sentiment analysis, automated workflows).

    + Experience working in a complex or matrixed organization (e.g., nonprofit, government, higher education, corporate).

    + Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meltwater, Hootsuite) to measure content performance.

    + Experience supporting executive communications or internal change communications.

    + Advanced graphic design or multimedia editing skills (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, video editing tools).

    + Knowledge of AP style and plain language writing principles.

    Office Location: 47 Trinity Ave, Atlanta GA

     

    Worker Type: Hybrid – (in-office: 2-3 days per week)

    Target Hiring Salary Range: * $65,100 - $83,500

    *Current Georgia state government employees will be subject to SPB rule provisions.
