The Head of Medical Communications & Operations is a key leadership role, encompassing a unique combination of both scientific and operational expertise, managing diverse cross-function teams across Medical Affairs (Medical Information, Scientific Communication and Content, External Research, Medical Education, Systems, and Medical Business operations) and ensuring harmonization across all Taiho companies and TPC stakeholder functions.
Position Summary:
The Vice President will lead the Medical Information, Scientific Communications (SI) and Content development, External Research, Grants and Medical Education, Systems, and Medical Business Operations. The position will interface across all Medical Affairs Leadership Taiho companies/TPC, and cross functional leadership including, Commercial, R & D, Legal Compliance, Quality, Finance, IT. Direct reports include: Sr. Director Scientific Communications, Director Medical Information, Director Business Operations and cross functional leadership with Medical Training and HEOR.
Performance Objectives:
Medical Information
+ The Vice President oversees all operations and responsibilities of the Medical Information function with oversight of global strategy and execution of deliverables for marketed and in-development products including ensuring final medical sign-off for all standard response letters, training, dossier creating and maintenance, compendia reviews, vendor management and field medica resources for scientific exchange. Responsible for communication with global partners and global medical affairs MI operations strategy. Collaborate with cross functional teams, PV, Quality to ensure adherence to Taiho/TPC policies related to AE and quality reporting.
+ Ensure accountability of the MI team and Therapeutic Area Medical directors to provide final medical sign off on all promotional and non-promotional resources in collaboration with legal compliance and regulatory. Responsible for supporting escalation to country level PRC governance.
Evidence Generation and Medical Education
+ Lead the Operations governance for the for all Medical Grants programs, IME, IITs, Publication grants, MTAs Sponsorships and ensuring Taiho Oncology and TPC alignment
+ Collaboration with Medical Affairs Product Leads to ensure development of the areas of interest development and assessment of gaps and continuous monitoring of the IIT/Collaborative Research program for the oncology portfolio.
+ Oversee operational conduct of the IIT/Collaborative Research Review Committees for review, approval, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the overall IIT/Collaborative Research program.
+ Oversee the research collaborations (e.g., NCI Clinical Trials National Network) in support of implementation of research programs.
+ Oversight of the external research and IME program management across the portfolio
+ Lead Non -CME Education programs strategy for across the Oncology portfolio.
Publications
+ Lead the operational excellence for external publications, coordinating all key cross functional stakeholders and driving deliverables.
Compliance and Quality
+ Ensure development of key process and SOPs (Ad boards, publications, grants) to ensure compliant standardization of process throughout TOI/TPC Medical affairs and implement training enterprise wide
+ Lead inspection and audit readiness plan and process for Medical Affairs.
Systems
+ Serve as the MA systems lead to identify and leverage digital innovation to optimize MA communication, partnering with IT leadership and launching key digital platforms.
+ Partner with IT leadership to drive the further development of Medical Affairs website to enhance external communication and continuous optimization.
Medical Business Operations
+ Responsible for overall budgetary spend, contracting, governance and forecasting for Medical Affairs, collaborating across the MA leadership team and Finance leadership.
Education/Certification Requirements:
+ Prefer PharmD, DNP, PharmD, or MD or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Oncology Medical Affairs and Clinical experience preferred.
+ 10+ years of relevant Medical Affairs (Clinical Operations/ Scientific Communications/ Medical Information)
+ Experience managing people either directly or within a matrix environment.
+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical information and data.
+ Strong leadership, organization, and time management skills.
+ Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
+ Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
+ Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
+ Self-motivated, collaborator, able to take initiatives, act independently in fast paced environment.
+ Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.

+ Must be able to travel domestically and internationally including some weekend travel.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $334,057 - $393,000 annually. This pay range is based on the market range for positions of this type. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including annual bonus/incentive comp plans, potential long term incentive plan, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate/employee receives an offer of employment.
