Position Title: Pre-K Special Day Class Teacher – Special Education
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 2025–2026 School Year
Setting: In-person classroom
Grade Level: Pre-K
Class Size: Currently 4 students; may grow to 8–10
Basic Function
Serve as a Pre-K Special Day Class Teacher within the Special Education Program, providing assessment, instruction, and evaluation for students with exceptional needs. Collaborate with parents, staff, and external agencies to support student development.
Key Responsibilities
+ Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in coordination with families and support teams.
+ Provide direct instruction to students individually or in small groups based on IEP goals.
+ Evaluate academic, social, and emotional progress; maintain accurate student records.
+ Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, and support personnel.
+ Supervise instructional assistants and volunteers.
+ Communicate regularly with parents and participate in program planning meetings.
+ Ensure student safety and well-being.
+ Promote integration into school and community settings.
+ Attend professional development and provide in-service training as needed.
+ Coordinate with external agencies (e.g., TCRC, Mental Health) for additional services.
+ May provide specialized health care services under supervision of the school nurse.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Valid California Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Credential required, or willingness to obtain.
+ Experience working with special education students preferred.
+ Flexibility to work across Santa Barbara County with potential day-to-day assignment changes.
Compensation
+ Local Pay Rate: $65/hr
+ Travel Weekly Pay: $3,479/week
+ Total Paid Hours per Week: 40
