    The ARDC Manager role provides oversight of a staff of supervisors and specialists, while ensuring efficient and accurate time computation and release processes for those sentenced to the Department of Public Safety and Corrections. It facilitates coordination between multiple facilities, and ensures compliance with any updates or changes to departmental policy, and applicable state and local laws affecting inmate records, under the supervision of the Program Manager 1. The position acts as a central point of contact managing the day to day operations of the PreClassification Department.

     

    Providing direct supervision of ARDC Supervisors, the role requires both administrative leadership and hands-on problem-solving. This position provides a challenging, evolving, and interesting perspective on inmate records as it requires a high level of involvement in internal coordination, as well as direct engagement with outside partners in order to ensure smooth functioning of statewide intake and release operations.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Two years of the required experience in the following minimum qualifications must have been in offender records analysis, offender classification, or offender pre-classification:

    Seven years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, security, or social services or as a probation or parole officer; OR

     

    Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, probation and parole, security, or social services; OR

     

    A bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, probation and parole, security, or social services; OR

     

    An advanced degree in a social science or social work or a juris doctorate plus three years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, probation and parole, security, or social services.

    EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

    Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    Supervise and evaluate ARDC Supervisors and a staff of approximately 20-30 to communicate information correctly and ensure operational accuracy and efficiency.

     

    Has knowledge and expertise in time computation in order to provide answers to complex questions, as well as training and guidance to those under their supervision.

    Position-Specific Details:

    Appointment Type: PROMOTION of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)

     

    + The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted, or may be required to accept a probational appointment.
