About the role
Kerry is seeking a Sanitation / Quality Supervisor for it's Vinton, Iowa facility.
Key responsibilities
Oversee the Plant's sanitation and janitorial programs, processes, and systems to ensure that the plant performance meets and/or exceeds company-wide expectations.
• Responsible for supervising all activities in the plant with potential for weekend shifts. This includes the safety of all employees and contractors in the building. May be asked to assist maintenance and production with coordinating projects.
• Supervise a crew of 2-4 sanitors.
• Responsible for supervising, training, and directing the work of the sanitation staff. This also includes hiring, administering discipline and providing feedback to them.
• Coordinate with the heads of Production and Quality to assure proper follow up on all customer and regulatory issues (complaints, audits, and requests for information).
• Assure plant level preparedness for customer and regulatory inspections.
• Lead, teach and motivate all plant employees in pursuit of sanitation excellence and plant safety.
• Drive problem solving initiatives; utilize root cause analysis and preventative actions with respect to sanitation and food safety/quality related issues.
• Support and enforce cGMP's, food safety procedures and company policies.
• Support production management in troubleshooting plant sanitation deficiencies and in identifying root cause and eliminating sanitation issues.
• Responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and updating documents, forms, and logs in relation to cleaning/ sanitation functions.
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels of sanitation supplies, including ordering and replenishing.
• Maintain and log on all sanitation on Master Cleaning Schedules.
• Utilizes powered cleaning equipment that may include lift truck, scissors lift, power washer, foam applicators, and various non-mechanized equipment.
• Follows safety rules including but not limited to safe lifting, lock out/tag out wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), following l Safety Data Sheets, proper disassembly and reassembly of equipment.
• Participates in all necessary safety training, team development programs, and plant initiatives.
• Creates/Updates Standard Operating Procedures.
• Support the plant Food Safety & Quality System to produce safe quality food, acting as SQF Practitioner and PCQI back-up
• Perform and/or participate in internal audits while ensuring compliance to internal food safety and quality policies and applicable local regulations through the audits, observations, process reviews, and development of corrective actions with site management.
• Support facility during inspections, customer and 3rd party audits, communications, commercialisations, and other interactions with regulatory agencies or customers.
• Provide technical assistance to quality assurance and operations.
• In conjunction with the Quality Manager, update and support food safety programs and food safety systems HACCP/Preventive Controls, sanitation, line clean verifications and validations, pest control, and environmental monitoring program. Maintain the quality systems for the plant. Ensure work instructions, SSOPs, procedures and other pertinent documentation is up to date. Recommend revisions to plant work instructions as needed.
• Completion of required reporting on key performance indicators.
• Participate in quality complaint investigations.
• Verify corrective action completion and continued conformance.
• Other duties relating to facility operation, food safety/quality and sanitation, as assigned.
Qualifications and skills
• Ability to organize and plan ahead to maximize job efficiency and work safely.

• Knowledge of relevant GFSI standards such as SQF, BRC, IFS or FS 22000.
• Knowledge and understanding of Food Safety regulations, FSMA, and industry and market trends.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with a variety of stakeholders.
• Effectively organize and manage numerous work tasks of a diverse nature.
• Knowledge and experience with quality management systems, GFSI audit standards, SSOPs, Environmental hygiene programs, prerequisite programs and HACCP.

Education
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or similar science/Engineering.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
• Previous work experience within a food manufacturing and distribution environment.
• Experience with laboratory, quality, and/or food safety systems.
• 1-2 years of quality experience is preferred. Experience in a plant environment preferred. Sanitation experience is a plus.
• Strong Computer Skills (Microsoft Office).
• Communication and interpersonal skills.
• Skills in customer relations.
• Analytical skills.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work in hot, cold or wet environments.
• Ability to work overtime and use a flexible schedule.
The pay range for this position is $64,000 - $105,000 in Annual Salary. Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay-for-performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition, this position is also eligible to earn a performance-based incentive compensation.
