We are looking for an Assistant Engineer that seeks to join a talented group of professionals to promote thriving communities by applying technology to solve complex issues in transportation. The ideal candidate will work, in partnership with Iteris Engineering staff, with state, regional, and local agencies to deliver various transportation engineering and planning projects to improve our communities.

What you will be doing:

+ Assisting project engineers with transportation engineering or planning projects including fieldwork, design, analysis, preparation of presentations, graphics and other support tasks as needed

+ Assist with the analysis, assessment, and interpretation of data, conditions, and systems to plan and execute traffic signal retiming improvements and assist in the preparation of Traffic Signal/ITS plans

+ Perform transportation, traffic, or systems engineering work in the development of traffic signal timing, signal systems management, and operations Systems engineering analysis and reports under the direction of senior engineering staff

+ Assist in the preparation of Traffic Signal/ITS plans

+ Data analysis to support development and implementation strategies for improving arterial traffic flow and safety, and evaluating system performance

+ Some travel to conduct fieldwork

What you need to be successful in this role:

+ Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) or Master’s Degree, Field of Study: Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning

+ Solid written and verbal communication/presentation skills

+ Self-starter with good motivational skills

+ Ability to work independently/as part of a traffic engineering team with a passion for traffic engineering and operations

+ Experience using Microstation, AutoCAD, Excel, and familiarity with Synchro

+ Ability to obtain EIT certification in the next 6 months

Iteris anticipates paying a base salary between $70,000 and $77,500 for this role. Actual pay offered may be below or above these amounts, depending on the individual’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
