Alumni and Stakeholder Engagement (ASE), working in a collaborative partnership with the UW Alumni Association (https://www.washington.edu/alumni/) , fulfills its mission to advance higher education in the state of Washington and to support the UW through impactful, broad-based engagement with alumni, students, retirees and friends of the University. Alumni & Stakeholder Engagement has an exciting opening for a Regional Engagement Coordinator. This is a part-time, temporary position contracted for four (4) months.
The temporary Regional Engagement Coordinator will work in partnership with the Senior Director of Membership & Engagement Strategy to co-design and execute programs that engage the alumni and stakeholder communities that reside in regional markets outside of Puget Sound. These programs are created to deepen affinity, foster a sense of belonging, increase engagement and nurture lifelong relationships with the University for alumni, volunteers, students, donors, parents and friends of the University of Washington and nurture lifelong relationships with the University.
This position will primarily work on program development for three of the UW’s six major markets, from program development to event execution. In addition, this role will manage regional daily operations, including, but not limited to, email, listserv management and regional volunteer communications.
What You Will Do:
+ Co-develop and produce high-quality programming and UW-related content for three major regional markets (Bay Area, Southern California and New York), including working with vendors and partners, as necessary.
+ Collaborate with the ASE Marketing team to develop electronic and print materials, online registrations and other engagement devices for regional events.
+ Prepare and monitor individual event budgets ranging from $500–$20,000.
+ Support volunteer-led winter socials in all six major regional markets, as needed.
+ Coordinate event information, marketing and billing, as needed.
+ Manage the regional inbox, SharePoint folders and listservs, resolving incoming emails, as necessary.
Pay Rate Information
The salary information provided below is for a full-time position and will be prorated for part-time.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in development/alumni relations, community engagement, event planning, public relations, project management, or related field.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
What You Bring:
+ Strong interpersonal skills and customer service.
+ Ability to express oneself clearly and empathetically in interactions with others and in all forms of communication.
+ Experience working with high-level administrators, corporate executives and professionals.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of tools for correspondence, special reports, spreadsheets, databases and forms.
+ Experience working in higher education, non-profit or public sector.
What You Can Expect:
+ This position is an in-person, part-time, temporary role scheduled to work for up to 25 hours per week for four (4) months.
+ Cubicle/open workspace environment that may result in higher noise levels and visual distractions.
+ Workload and times may vary, including occasional evenings or weekends.
