JOB DESCRIPTION
Basic Purpose
Manages operations at power generation facilities ensuring safe, reliable, efficient, compliant, and economic operations. Manages and allocates financial and employee resources that are in alignment with Company strategies. Leads the department by reinforcing a collaborative and adaptable workforce. Implement and support Company and Business Unit programs and policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Enables operation staff to perform plant operations safely, productively and efficiently ensuring plant availability and reliability.
+ Leads teams toward productive excellence by identifying and resolving member issues. Observes, discusses, records and tracks information used to develop team members.
+ Ensures integrity of plant operating procedures, policies, operator training programs, permits and record keeping.
+ Manages customer relationship with Dispatch and Marketing Authorities
+ Coordinates operation & maintenance activities as required.
+ Hires and establishes staffing requirements and manpower allocations within the department.
+ Initiates and supports work process improvements designed to improve plant safety, availability, and reliability.
+ Ensures a safe work environment through appropriate training and work processes.
Responsible and accountable for the administration and preparation of departmental personnel, budgets, and corporate goals.
Oversees administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement within the department and works to satisfactorily resolve department labor issues.
Works closely with plant work order system to ensure accurate record keeping.
Coordinates vendors and maintenance for plant outages as required...
Supports Capital Projects (initiation, justification, project development, construction support and close-out) working closely with the Project Management Team.
Supports Generation processes such as Work Management, Management of Change, Capital Projects, Asset Management, Inventory Management, Cyber Security, Outage Management, Reliability Improvement Planning
Acts as temporary Plant Manager as required.
Monitors and enforces all compliance requirements for area of responsibility.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to position and company.
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school and 6 years of related experience including 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 10 years of related work experience including 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:
+ Generating plant operations, maintenance, and training.
+ OSHA and environmental regulations.
Demonstrated skill such as:
+ Problem solving, negotiation and risk management skills,
+ Written and oral communications skills.
Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Requires work near moving parts, with toxic or caustic chemicals, in outdoor weather conditions, and near extreme heat. Some exposure to loud noises required.
