Sr. Manager, Strategic Initiatives and Operational Excellence (SI&OE)
Position Overview:
This role is responsible for driving operational excellence on high priority projects across the Commercial Business Unit (CBU), enabling functions and the division. The incumbent plays a key role in managing high-impact, cross functional, complex projects and ensuring alignment with our 90-day outcomes and divisional priorities. The ideal candidate brings deep project management expertise and business understanding across functions (including marketing, product supply, R&D, sales and finance) and a proven track record of leading complex initiatives in a consumer-driven business, ideally CPG.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ **Strategic Project Management Leadership:** Oversee structure, tools and facilitation to ensure strategic initiatives stay on track , while empowering teams to make informed decisions and deliver high quality results.
+ Timeline Management (develop and oversee timeline and activities, ensure accountability, help teams anticipate dependencies and stay focused on key milestones)
+ Resource Flow (identify team members at the right time, ensure sufficiency, flex talent as needed and proactively identify areas where support or realignment is needed, etc.)
+ Risk Management (surface potential risks early and help teams assess impact and developing mitigation plans and tradeoffs in a solution-oriented way)
+ Budget Management (plan, monitor and control the financial resources of projects to ensure they stay within budget allocation)
+ Quality Management (help ensure deliverables reflect strategic intent, required standards and specification and stakeholders’ expectations)
+ Change Management (manage changes to the project scope, schedule and resources including the impact of the changes)
+ In Scope: Commercial/E2E PM of key innovations, CBU priority initiatives from 90-day outcomes and divisional priorities outside of CBU. PM activities include:
+ Not in Scope: Innovations with limited launch support and/or product supply led initiatives
+ **CBU Cross-Functional Leadership and Engagement:** Support CBU Steering Committee as needed, to provide clear visibility and connectivity across all sub-team key 90-day outcomes and initiatives.
+ Strategic Framing (Partner with initiative owners and senior leaders to define objectives, success metrics, and practical approaches to achieving them)
+ Cross- Functional Alignment- (Catalyze and facilitate cross- CBU discussions to ensure alignment, identified interdependencies and clarify roles and next steps based on available resources, funding and required timelines)
+ Resource Management (Guide cross-category CBU portfolio prioritization decisions based on available resources, funding and timing)
+ Leadership Communication (Prepare clear, compelling materials that enable stakeholder alignment and effective decision making)
+ Continuous Improvement (Reflect, learn and evolve the ways of working to build long-term team effectiveness across SI&OE team).
+ In Scope **:**
+ Out of Scope: Member of every work team, team note taker/admin
+ **Innovation Portfolio and Governance Management for CBU:** Collaborate with Commercial Innovation and R&D iGM to support the management and governance oversight of the CBU ensuring alignment with strategic goals and effective resource allocation.
+ In Scope **:** CBU pipeline reporting and project tracking; drive synergies where relevant; support in innovation strategy development across Brands/Categories and their assessment; maintain any innovation systems and reporting.
+ Not in Scope: core commercial team lead on all innovation/initiative projects
WHO YOU ARE:
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related field;
+ Broad understanding of how functions such as marketing, R&D, product supply, finance and sales work together to deliver business outcomes
+ Experience facilitating complex, cross functional projects with multiple stakeholders
+ Strong communications, relationship-building and critical thinking skills
+ Comfort with ambiguity and ability to bring clarity and progress in evolving situations
+ Proficiency with project management tools such as Smartsheet, Asana, as well as Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
+ MBA or advanced degree preferred
+ 7+ years of experience in project management, strategic planning or business operations, ideally in the CPG industry
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $151135.50 - 226703.24. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
